Jets 9-7.
**Craig Carton** (0:02)
So, if you are on your way to Medlife Stadium, give a call, first football game of the year. Obviously, tomorrow afternoon, a lot of great tailgating for the Giants game at 1 o'clock.
I've never been, well, yeah, that's a lie. I'm sure back in the day, I did wager on preseason football, but the Jets are 6.5 point favorites tonight. Do not expect to see that again this year.
Means nothing and you should never, ever, ever, ever wager on preseason football. So please don't tonight. It is a guaranteed losing cause. If you do, I'm just putting it out there, okay? We'll get Mark Schlereth here in a minute as well. Talk a little football. Justin Pugh's coming in studio in the 5 o'clock hour as well. So looking forward to having him here too. Paul's in Yonkers on the fan. Paul, how are you, buddy?
**Paul** (0:53)
Hey, Craig. Hi, boys. I got your back. I'm here.
**Craig Carton** (0:57)
Hey, you're going? What's going on today, Cookie?
**Paul** (1:00)
All right. The NFL. It's a monster. It's here. I want to just quickly do this. Say goodbye to Stearns and Cohen.
The NFL has just stepped on your head.
**Craig Carton** (1:15)
That's right.
**Paul** (1:15)
You got three games left. You got Peter Lanzo days. Go away.
If there's baseball in April, I'll see you in April.
**Craig Carton** (1:24)
So, you are done with your New York match. You have Peter Lanzo day, which you'll go to, when they're out of P. And you'll have the Subway Series, of course, which you'll watch also. Outside of that, it's a wrap. You're done.
**Paul** (1:36)
I've got to. Now for the NFL. Thank you, NFL. You're turning Christmas into a happy new year.
Three football games on Christmas, five basketball games on Christmas. Yes. Okay.
I'm happy. That's incredible.
**Craig Carton** (1:54)
You have an entire day of celebrating religion, watching basketball and watching football. And it's going to be a fabulous Christmas, isn't it?
**Paul** (2:06)
Merry Christmas to one and all. You could now name it Happy New Year's. Happy New Year's. And the NFL.
Thank you, NFL. One more thing. You know which is my favorite games, Craig?
**Craig Carton** (2:21)
Your favorite games in what sport?
**Paul** (2:23)
The whole year. No, only the NFL. Who cares about anything else?
**Craig Carton** (2:28)
Your favorite game is Thanksgiving Thursday.
**Paul** (2:32)
No. Oh, OK. All the countries I can't name. Why? Because the 9 a.m. starts.
And I fly to Vegas to make it 6 a.m. I love 6 a.m. games.
**Craig Carton** (2:50)
You're a glutton for punishment, Paul.
I hate the European games. I hate them at 9 o'clock. I hate them at 10 o'clock. And you bet your ass I would hate them at 6 o'clock, too.
**Paul** (3:03)
No, a little cup of coffee, some two-over with bacon, you're sitting, you're watching football. It could be any teams, who cares?
**Craig Carton** (3:12)
Well, I'm with you on that. It doesn't matter who's playing. We watch football because we love football. And I remember when I lived in Denver for a couple of years, I hated the fact that I had to get up early and start watching football actual games at 11 o'clock in the morning. Because I'm an East Coast guy.
One o'clock, four o'clock, eight o'clock, period stop.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:34)
I like them.
**Craig Carton** (3:35)
Of course, you like them. You're a Broncos fan.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:37)
And I'm up watching, you know, soccer at that. No, I watch soccer, and then I get in the football.
**Craig Carton** (3:43)
So you watch like an eight o'clock...
UF soccer match? And then you go from that right into football?
**Chris McMonigle** (3:49)
And last year, I went out to London for the Broncos Jets game. The weirdest thing was at like nine o'clock, the one o'clock games are just hitting like halftime there at night. So I'm over here like, I'm not making it to the four o'clock games, but I enjoy the early start.
**Quincy Enunwa** (4:04)
I like it. I want more of them.
**Craig Carton** (4:06)
Because typically, you're a little hungover on Sunday morning, or you have to go to church or whatever your thing is, obviously.
Like noon, I could accept noon, but I don't like morning football. I hate it. I hate when you have to get up and you got like tiptoe around the house because the kids are sleeping, your wife's sleeping, and then you watch her on the couch by yourself, and your wife isn't awake, so she hasn't done her job for the day, which is prepare all the food and drink for the men to eat while they enjoy and drink, while they enjoy watching football. It's like you're sitting there like, am I really drinking Grand Marnies and Coke at nine o'clock in the morning to watch the European game?
