By the way, those of you trying to get New York Knicks tickets, they put them back on sale with the appropriate pricing. So they acknowledged Snafu last week, and they've corrected it. So those of you that are looking to get single game tickets for the New York Knicks this year, I just want to give you a little heads up. Those tickets are up for sale now. It's a 12% increase across the board, off of last year's championship. So as expected, but not the crazy prices. Like, it's not a thousand bucks a ticket, but that did go live today. That's a quick note for you there.
A couple of other quickies for you, before we get back to your calls on the Giants. The New York Yankees, obviously last night got eliminated from the division on their home turf. Pretty much a no-hitter. The offense was like, you know what, man, we don't feel like showing up today.
After the, we only had five hits in the first game, by the way.
Chris McMonigle (0:50)
Yeah, Rasmussen has just owned, outside of the one performance earlier this year where they scored like 12 runs off of him, his entire career he has owned the New York Yankees. Last night was no different.
Craig Carton (0:59)
Yeah, the rounds that, look, they weren't gonna win the division, so it's just a matter of how it happened.
Chris McMonigle (1:04)
It's just the same to me, and I know, look, you never like to see a team celebrate on your field and they won the division last night.
Craig Carton (1:10)
It's happened a lot, though.
Chris McMonigle (1:11)
But it's more about losing in the playoffs.
It was more of a random schedule thing that had happened against the Yankees. They beat the Yankees all year. They earned the division. They won the division. I don't feel any worse about losing the division if they did it in Baltimore. Also because it was expected. Yeah, I mean, we went in knowing it was gonna happen. But you lose a postseason series, they celebrate in your building. That's the problem. That's the problem.
Craig Carton (1:33)
Now you get your ducks in order. That's all. Tuesday, Wednesday, maybe Thursday.
Chris McMonigle (1:37)
And the one thing that's kind of been out there today a little bit, just to talk Yankees for a second, the Yankees, Aaron Boone did tell Talking Yanks today that he will be working out and will be playing one of these games, Anthony Volpe at third base. Oh, really? So Anthony Volpe is gonna be getting some work.
Craig Carton (1:54)
When Jax comes back, he goes to second.
Chris McMonigle (1:55)
Jax came back last night.
Craig Carton (1:56)
Volpe, hot bat maybe.
Chris McMonigle (1:58)
Yeah.
Craig Carton (1:58)
You know, get a little lightning in the bottle at third base.
Chris McMonigle (2:00)
More than anything of that, Ryan Mc... Even with that arm, yeah. Ryan McMahon can't play anymore.
You bring him into the eight to nine for the glove or no? Even the glove last night, he makes a misplay on a ball he has to make. Like, he's not that good defensively right now and he is an absolute zero. They need to figure out who they're gonna play at third base, whether it's Caballero, they'll give a chance to Volpe.
Craig Carton (2:19)
Could Jax play third or no?
Chris McMonigle (2:20)
He could, but he was so unhappy about it the last time when he first got traded to the Yankees in 24 he did it happily. He went to third base and it worked out for the most part. They went to the World Series.
The beginning of the next year he was just miserable there. So I doubt they do that again. But if they have to, they will because Ryan McMahon cannot play. What's best for the team?
Craig Carton (2:41)
I guess what's best for the team if he's gonna be miserable.
Chris McMonigle (2:44)
I don't even want him on the playoff roster.
Craig Carton (2:46)
Oh, you're there now.
Chris McMonigle (2:47)
I'm there with Ryan McMahon.
Craig Carton (2:48)
Well, you're not gonna trust him to pinch hit late either. Exactly.
Chris McMonigle (2:51)
And honestly, if Jean-Carlos Stanton was running, right, we saw Jean-Carlos Stanton playing in the outfield. If there is a chance, ice cold, off of doing absolutely nothing, that he could come off the bench for an at bat late in the game, I would put him on the roster over Ryan McMahon just for the hope that that possibility could be there. I guess, yeah, one swing of the bat, tie game. If Trent Grisham can swing a bat coming off his hamstring injury, I'd rather have him on the bench doing absolutely nothing in hopes of maybe he could pinch it late in the game over Ryan McMahon. He's completely useless.
