Obviously, a unique Football Friday here with the 25th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks. We want to make sure we give you an opportunity to be heard today and share your thoughts and share the stories of loved ones you may have lost, either on September 11th, 25 years ago, or sadly, because they worked the scene and you came down with some disgusting disease afterwards. And there have been more of those people now than people that actually perished on 9-11, which is really crazy if you start contemplating that. You know, the day that we lost over 3,000 people, that number now pales in comparison to the amount of people we've lost with health-related issues from being downtown. If there's a sports connection to it, great. If not, also fine. Happy to give you a platform. We do have Subway Series tonight.
Yankees now trying to win their fifth in a row, I think, right? Is it a lot more than that?
Chris McMonigle (0:55)
Let me think about that.
Craig Carton (0:56)
Swept the Rockies.
Chris McMonigle (0:57)
Swept the Rockies. Right?
That's three. That's three for sure. We're good for three. We got at least three in a row. Locked into three out of the last three.
SPEAKER_4 (1:06)
Why do I feel like they...
Chris McMonigle (1:07)
I don't think they, did they win the last...
SPEAKER_1 (1:09)
Poor, you're the Yankee guy.
Chris McMonigle (1:10)
No, they lost the last game against San Diego. They split that series. They won the meat, lost the bread of that three game sandwich. Got it. All right, so three in a row. Three in a row.
Craig Carton (1:18)
So going for four in a row tonight, you got McLean, the rookie sensation for the Mets, who's not been such a sensation as much as you at home TV.
Chris McMonigle (1:26)
He's been pretty good though.
Craig Carton (1:27)
And Carlos Verdun for the Yankees. And Anthony Volpe at second base. I've not seen the starting line up yet of you.
Chris McMonigle (1:34)
I have. Both the Mets and the Yankees starting line up.
Craig Carton (1:38)
And I assume Aaron Judge is playing tonight.
Chris McMonigle (1:40)
Aaron Judge is batting third and playing right field. Okay. Anthony Volpe is batting ninth again, playing second base.
Craig Carton (1:45)
So I want you people to hear about it.
Chris McMonigle (1:47)
That's it, yep. All right, obviously. The rest is what you expect.
Craig Carton (1:49)
You are going to have a tougher time than usual getting to the stadium tonight. So just be prepared for that and be kind on your way to the stadium. I was coming down the West Side Highway today. I had to make a left on Canal Street to come to our station. I should have known better. I should have gotten off maybe at Clarkson or even at Houston, and then come in through the local streets and I just wasn't paying attention because I was really immersed in a TikTok video. Because I'm in stop and go traffic, right? So a lot of stop, a lot of video. And people, I mean, still like we're blocks away. Canal Street South is closed, or I should say the West Side Highway slash West Street is closed at Canal Street. You can make a left on Canal, but you cannot go south. And there's signs telling you that. The GPS tells you the road is shut down.
You would think on September 11th that there would be some kindness, because like you have to, you know, a little merge in, got to merge, got to merge, to make the left from the right lane.
People honking their horns, flipping each other off.
Chris McMonigle (2:58)
Nobody letting anybody in.
Craig Carton (2:59)
You're right. And I'm in no rush. Like I would have been down here maybe 20 minutes earlier, so I'm good time-wise. And I'm sitting there, and it's funny when you're not in a rush, and you're taking it all in, there's one, it was a woman driving.
It doesn't matter the make of the car. She's in a sedan, all right? And there's a guy driving a pickup truck, twice the size of this gal's sedan. He's got his blinker on, he has his driver's side window down, and he puts his left hand out like, they're making us turn left here.
SPEAKER_5 (3:34)
Can you give me a break? Yeah.
Craig Carton (3:35)
I at some point, I gotta get into the lane. There's the left lane and the center lane that you can make the left hand turn from, from West Street onto Canal Street. No, well, the right lane, you can't use it because you can't go straight. So at some point, you and I are going to have to take turns making that left. Yes.
