No Michael Kay!

Jake Asman (0:42)

No Michael Kay, Jake Aspin, Sidigan, or Michael, as we take you till 3 o'clock. Don, Han, and Rosenberg comes your way then. Carlos Rodan just got out of the first inning jam, only allowing one run, so the twins have the early lead. One-nothing, as we will head to the second inning. Yankees trying to go for this sweep right now. And the Rays never lose. I said it last hour, I am not convinced the Yankees are going to win the American League East. And today's the first time the betting odds have reflected where the Rays are now the favorites. Think about that. The Yankees have still been the favorites to win the division this entire time until today. It's a numbers game. It's math. You're running out of games to do it. But what the Yankees can do is just try and play as well as they possibly can down the stretch.

And you go into the post season, you take your best chance. You gotta get through Boston first. But you go from there. And I'll say this, and I'm sure we'll spend more time on this radio station talking about it when we get closer to the end of the regular season and the playoff start. MLB's gotta change the playoff format. If you're a Rave fan, you've been the best team in the American League all year.

And now you have to potentially deal with either the Yankees or the Red Sox in your first round matchup.

SPEAKER_4 (1:56)

Really?

Jake Asman (1:58)

You should be rewarded if you've been the best team, not having to play a team in your own division. Like, it should be reseated based on record. There should be a real benefit to winning your division, sure, but having the best record. Like, I believe that winning the division is important. You should be able to get home games if you win the division. But, I'm sorry, it doesn't sit right with me that you can make a case the three best teams in the American League are all in the American League East. Maybe the four best teams.

And then like a team like Toronto or Baltimore, if they get in as the third wild card, they get a break. They get to go play the American League West winner, the 75 and 75 Astros. How does that make any sense? You know, the best thing in hindsight for the Yankees would be if they could magically fall to the three spot, and you could go take on either Texas or Houston. Or I suppose maybe the White Sox. It's going to depend on who ends up with the better record from those division winners, who wins the Central, who wins the West with a better record. But the format is so silly, because either Toronto or Baltimore could potentially avoid having to play either of the division foes that have beat their you know what this year until the ALCS. How does that make any sense? So baseball needs to reformat its playoff situation, because I just don't think it makes much sense.

809193776 numbered a call to be part of the show. Aaron Glenn said today, once again, that the Jets fans who took over Nashville, the Jets truly appreciated, and he's hoping that the fan base on Sunday can be loud and impact the game the way he believes the fans on Sunday did on the road. And we're going to find out, I think, a lot about this coach and this Jets team based on how they look in this one against the Green Bay Packers who entered this game struggling. They enter this game reeling. I think the entire conversation with the Jets right now is centered around is Tennessee just ass or are the Jets actually a lot better than we realize? I think it's somewhere in the middle. You got to give credit to the Jets for dominating. They did leave some points on the board. The end of the first half was sloppy. But overall, I called it a must-win game since the day the schedule came out. They won the game. They get credit for that. Now, you don't have to hear about, oh, and 4 Glenn Hotseat started and 7 last year. It's a new year. Turn the page. They're 1 and And the Jet fan deserves something. I know there's non-Jet fans saying, oh, why are the Jet fans going so crazy, right? The video I had on my flight back from Nashville, 6 o'clock in the morning, there's a Jet Chan is going all over the place. Well, who are these people doing a Jet Chan at 6 o'clock in the morning? Act like you've been there before. You can't act like you've been there before when you've never been there. This was the first enjoyable Jet win since week 3 of 2024 Let me explain. Over the last three years, how many times did the Jet fan get to really enjoy and feel excited about something? How many times? Want the answer?
