I was talking to Knicks and their loss in game 3, but there was something that happened yesterday. I've got to address this on the show. I mean, I'm fortunate enough to have these two hours, to opine on things that really, really do bother me. And the decision that came down yesterday on Brendan Sorsby, he is the soon to be quarterback of Texas Tech, and most recently with Indiana. So he was a transfer, and he got $4 million to play at Texas Tech. And then it was revealed that he bet on games that involved Indiana. And he bet on Indiana games. He bet over $90,000 on Indiana games. And the NCAA, which is the most feckless, flaccid institution that you could ever have, impotent, frankly, they said, well, you know, he's suspended. That's the one rule, we're all in agreement. If you bet on your team, or you bet against your team, or you bet a certain amount of money on pro sports, then you're suspended for the year or for the remainder of your college career.
So they handed down that he was, he couldn't play for Texas Tech. Well, then he took it to a court in Texas, where the four appointed judges happened to all have a, they actually attended Texas Tech Law School.
And they're voted on by the people that are fans of Texas Tech. So, if they would have actually ruled against Soarsby, you know what would have happened? They would have been voted out of their jobs as judges.
It shows you how everything is slanted, everything is crooked, whatever the case may be. They said that it's unfair to his future earnings. And I'm just paraphrasing now, because I don't have the copy in front of me of what they said. Unfair to his future earnings, he wouldn't be able to earn a living because he has an addiction. The addiction is gambling, and he should be able to rehab and still learn and play at Texas Tech. So when it came out that he gambled, he was smart enough to go, I'll sit out the first two games of the season. Now the first two games of the season against the Flotsam and Jetsom, that Texas Tech is going to play. Now Texas Tech is not a nothing program. They're in the college football playhouse last year, right? So he's going to sit out the first two games, and then he would play after that they start playing in their league games. Well, now he's going to play, the NCAA said, no, you're not playing any games, but because of these four hack judges, he's going to play in every game other than the two that he voluntarily said he was going to sit out. Are you kidding me? Are there any laws? You have to do anything? I don't care if he has a problem. I don't care if he has a problem. Go get help. It doesn't mean that you have to make $4 million playing for Texas Tech. What have we become? I am out on college football, out. If this stuff is allowed to stand, I'm out. And the four judges that ruled on this, you know what they did? They knew that if there was an appeal by the NCAA, that it would take a year to be heard. So once that year is over, it's his last year of college eligibility anyway. What are we doing? What are we doing that this is acceptable now? So now you could gamble $90,000?
But because it's going to set him back. Well, what kind of example are you setting to other people that might gamble on their teams? So Pete Rose's Get Out Of Jail Free card would have been, hey, I'm an addict. I can't help myself. Oh, if you can't help yourself, bud, then you're okay. You could still continue to manage.
