Welcome back to the show. Everybody, our two of our two-hour radio program, fastest moving two hours in sports. Let's be honest. 1-800-919-3776. Giants are done with their camp in White Sulphur Springs. We'll move back to Jersey starting today. The Jets have been practicing in Florham Park. 215, we'll talk to Rich Cimini about where the Jets are, what he has seen and what stood out to him. Then we'll talk to Jordan Raanan at 230, what White Sulphur Springs was like and how the team came together. Most important thing for both teams, no major injuries. You look at the commander's Laramie Tunsell, torn a peck muscle, so he's going to be out the left tackle. That's pretty important. Those are things that you look at. You want to come out of these camps healthy, and so far the Giants and the Gents for the most part are.
Got to give some credit to the Mets.
They're on a road trip, and the first two stops in the road trip are against teams that really need to win. That ride on the fringes of being in a wild card. They go into Cleveland, they sweep the Guardians three straight. Then they go into Pittsburgh and they take two out of three against the Pirates, again, on the fringes of postseason. So the Mets got rid of a lot of people. They got rid of some of their best people. But I give credit to Andy Green, their manager, for keeping it together and getting these guys playing hard.
He's getting the most out of them. It's easy for them to quit, right, and they didn't quit. They played hard and they continue to grind, and now they start a series against the Atlanta Braves. And I threw this to somebody who covers the Mets a lot. I said, why not Andy Green for the manager? They said, well, he said, they said at the beginning that he was not going to be considered as a manager. And I go, yeah, yeah, that's what they say, in case he's not considered as a manager. But if he does a good job and it keeps this team together, he seems like he's pretty good with the media, speaks well, articulates the organization's hopes and dreams well. Why not? Why wouldn't he be considered?
Why wouldn't he be considered? Somebody who's been around the Mets a lot said, you know what, the perfect guy for them would be Joe Giorgi. Now, I'd hate to lose Joe Giorgi out of the Yankee booth. I think he'd be great for the Mets too. There'd be discipline there. He's a really smart baseball man. Will he get a fourth chance? Remember, his first chance was just one year at the Marlins. And then he spent 10 years with the Yankees, won a World Series, last World Series they've won. And then the years with the Phillies, and it doesn't look good that he was fired, they brought in Rob Thompson. Rob Thompson got that Philly team to the World Series. But Joe Girardi is a really good baseball guy. I'm sure he'll be considered. I'm sure that Carlos Beltran will be considered. But I'm here to say, why not Andy Green? Why is he not considered? I know they said he wants to get back to working in the front office. Let me tell you what, a successful manager in New York is going to earn way more money than a successful person in the front office dealing with the minor leagues. So if the Mets finish strong, and let's say for some strange reason they could actually climb out of last place, why wouldn't Andy Green be considered? Just saying, just a thought. Hey, how about the impact of George Lombard Jr.?
