Onto some football and a day of rest for Aaron Glenn's New York Jets. But training camp number 2, there's been some certainly eye-opening takeaways thus far. And to get the latest, we check in with our good pal, Rich Cimini, of course, covers the Jets for us here at Espn. It is the great Rich Cimini. Rich, how are we doing this afternoon, pal?

**Rich Cimini** (1:02)
Doing great, Dan. Long time no see.

**Dan Graca** (1:05)
Yeah, it's been, what, 48 hours, if that, in passing?

**Rich Cimini** (1:09)
Yeah, passing in the hallway.

**Dan Graca** (1:12)
Passing in the hallway, exactly.

**Rich Cimini** (1:13)
At the Jets facility.

**Dan Graca** (1:15)
Yeah, good old Florham Park for what's left of it now with all the work that's being done over there now. It's hard to get around, I can tell you that.
Aside from that, though, let me pick your brain, though, on the schedule first and foremost, because I don't know if fans have necessarily locked in, but Aaron Glenn is really kind of taking his foot off the gas here as far as making sure these guys get to a week one in one piece. No more than two consecutive days with padded practices, right? And then they get themselves a day off?

**Rich Cimini** (1:45)
Yeah, this is actually the third day with no practice since training camp opened.
We live in an analytics world now, Dan, as you know. And everything is based on sports science and GPS tracking. And they're doing all these different studies. They have a whole sports performance team, the Jets do, as do all NFL teams. And recovery is a key part of this. So they go two hours in pads, back-to-back days, and then they have a rest day. And the whole idea is to get the max out of your players, you know, avoid injuries. And we'll see if it works. It's a little bit different for the Jets. It's a lot different than what used to be. I mean, you and I grew up in the days of like two and a half hour practices with two a days in pads, and those days are long gone.

**Dan Graca** (2:35)
Well, it's funny, I guess, like you said, the analytics and the sports science, I guess John Harbaugh and the Giants haven't gotten that software yet because every time I look down in West Virginia, they're practicing two and a half hours a day, and with like no day off in sight, they just go one day after another. So I mean, to each his own, there's a lot of ways to skin a cat, but I guess they feel this is what's going to get them in the best shape to start the season.

**Rich Cimini** (2:58)
Well, there are rules. I mean, there are the CBA, there are very specific rules. So it's not like Harbaugh can practice every single day in pads in three hours a day. I think two and a half hours might be the max you're allowed on the field at one particular time. But yeah, every coach does it differently. The Giants ran a pretty physical training camp last summer.
Part of that is the new coach, the new sheriff in town. I'm sure Harbaugh is trying to toughen up his team and send a message and that sort of stuff. And the Giants went through that process last year. I'm not sure it worked, based on their record. But Glenn is going at it a little bit differently this year.

**Dan Graca** (3:37)
We'll see. All right, how about the head coach? Practice schedule aside. I mean, certainly when you see him up there at the podium with the press conferences and dealing with the media, he seems to have taken certainly a different approach in talking to the press every single day and talking to guys like us. And it was combative at times last year. And do you just chalk that up to a guy who's learning from some of the missteps of year number one, maybe getting a little bit of a better hand on what it means and what it entails to do this job as a head coach, certainly in a big city like this?
