Jake Asman in for Michael taking you till three. Michael did send out a tweet, which I could read for all the members of the Kay Army out there, the Karmia as we say. So sorry I'm missing the show today. My flight to Toronto was canceled last night. So I had to fly today, just landed in Toronto. Listen to Jake Asman as he does a great job. Thank you, Michael. See you tonight on the Yes Network Yankees Blue Jays. And we'll talk Monday at one on ESPN New York. So Michael's back Monday. He's calling the game tonight in Toronto for the Yankees. Ryan Weathers against Treja Savage as the Yankees will take on the Blue Jays. Quick note on the Yankees, so far so good without judge. All these wins matter. We know the offense is not going to be as good without the best hitter in the game in its lineup. But the pitching for the Yankees gives them a chance, you feel like, basically every night. And if they could just string together wins against teams that aren't great, along the way, hanging there against some of the better teams when they do play them for however long judge is out, they're going to make the playoffs. And I still think even if judge doesn't come back till the end of August, I don't buy the Tampa Bay Rays as this juggernaut and the Yankees should just space it and say, we're going to succeed the division. The Rays have won three straight, but the Yankees have won four, so they've been able to match them. Right now, they're dead even.
The Rays have one less loss to the Yankees. They're 40 and 25, the Yankees are 41 and 26 Toronto, 33 and 36 after they were on the World Series last year. So they've had some injuries, some of their best players haven't performed. You're getting the Blue Jays seemingly at a good time if you're going to play them. So we'll see how the Yankees look over the weekend. It's nice as a Knick fan to kind of have like a nice Friday night to reset before I'm expecting an absolute war tomorrow. The idea that the Knicks are just going to go into San Antonio and steamroll this team, I don't buy it.
First things first, the thing the Knicks have to solve is the first quarter issues. Now maybe if they play a great first quarter, then maybe it will be like some of these other closeout games where they've piled drove the hawks out of the building. Same thing in Philly on Mother's Day, the Mother's Day massacre, then they just destroyed Cleveland.
Maybe if the Knicks actually get out to a good start in the first quarter, which they haven't done in any of these four finals games, then things will actually be similar to what they were in the Eastern Conference playoffs leading into the finals. But I find that hard to believe even if the Knicks played well in the first quarter, let's say they were just even after one. They're going to blow out this first team. I think they're too talented. I think they already showed you they're resilient. They won a game seven on the road against OKC and they went into the belly of the beast that was the garden with the Knicks up 2-0 and won that game.
So I don't think this will be easy for the Knicks. Anyone who thinks it's going to be easy, I mean, good for you for having faith, but it's a championship round. It's not supposed to be easy. My advice to the Knicks, and you tell me Tom Bauer if this is good advice, don't get down by 29 in this one. I'm not confident they're going to come back again if they do that. That'd be my big thing to the Knicks. Try not to go down 27 at half time. Start there.
