Alex Day will also join us at this hour at 2.30. He's the co-host of The Jameis Winston Show. He thought he was doing a podcast with Jameis Winston backup quarterback for the Giants. Now he's doing a podcast with the starting quarterback for the New York Giants, as Jameis Winston and the Giants will try and move on. Life without Jackson Dart starts for them Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. And here's the biggest thing for the Giants. We'll hit on this as we wait for Michael to join us live from Yankee Stadium. The biggest question is obviously, can the Giants survive without Dart? The answer, I think, as far as like what their ceiling is, no, they can't. Can they still be a representative product that makes Giants fans feel like, hey, we're headed in the right direction with this coach? The answer is absolutely yes. All right, John Harbaugh last year with a backup quarterback went into Lambeau and won a huge game to keep the Ravens' playoff chances alive with Snoop Huntley as his quarterback. All right, good coaching will give you a chance in games. And it's not like the Giants' schedule is unbearable. There's some wins on the schedule.
You're playing the Titans at home and the Cardinals at home your next two games. You still have two games against the Commanders. I don't think we just assume they can't beat the Cowboys, they can't beat the Eagles. They already beat the Cowboys once. I get it, it was with Dart. But again, if you're well coached and Jameis Winston is truly one of the better back ups like we all said he was, I think the Giants with their talent they have, their running game, which they wanted to have anyway, they should be in the mix to still win eight games this year, nine games and be hovering around 500 I don't think this is going to be a total collapse. Even the Jets without Aaron Rodgers actually started four and three before it fell apart. And that was with Zach Wilson.
Again, I understand how devastating it is. I lived through this as a Jet fan, but I think there's too many people having the conversation, well, Giants are going to crumble now and what do you do if you're picking in the top three? Do you take Arch Manning or one of the other quarterbacks? I don't think it's going to get to that point. Though the lowest amount of games John Harbaugh has ever won as head coach, I believe is five in 2015
I just don't think the Giants already have one win docked, one win in the bag are going to completely fall apart now without Jackson Dart.
I could be dead wrong. If Jameis Winston is now just shot, he's washed, if what we saw on Monday is now who he is, then sure, they could be that bad. But I don't think he's that bad. I think he got thrown into a tough spot against an elite defense, a pissed off team playing in primetime, and he probably got very little reps once the regular season prep mode started. I know he played in the preseason, but think about it, Dart is learning a new offense. All the reps at practice, I'd imagine the last two weeks, from the final preseason game to when the Giants played the Cowboys, and that entire week leading up to the Rams, I'm sure Dart got 95, if not more, percent of the reps in practice. So I think that was a tough spot for Jameis, I think with six days to get ready, facing a team that is not the Rams, Giants being at home, I think they could stabilize their offense even with Winston at quarterback. I thought the games Winston played last year, by the way, he played what, against the Packers and the Lions? If memory serves, I know he played that Lions game. What was the other game he played, Tom Bauer? You're the Giants fan here. The point is, Jameis last year played two games, and I didn't think he looked bad. He looked like a competent quarterback, which is what you want from your backup. Other guys got to step up, and this is why you pay hard about 20 million a year. So I've seen too much, oh, you Giants, what do they do now? Take a quarterback. I don't think we're going to get to that point. I really don't.
