One of my favorites, I love this song.

Chris McMonigle (0:01)

That's impressive.

SPEAKER_3 (0:02)

Not bad, right?

Chris McMonigle (0:04)

You're an elite karaoke guy at the bar?

Craig Carton (0:06)

Elite. I mean, I try to stay away from karaoke because the whole point of karaoke is to have fun, and I don't want to embarrass everyone. I'm awful with lyrics. I don't want to get up there and be like, oh man, now how am I going to follow that? So I try not to, because it's too good.

Chris McMonigle (0:19)

I need the lyrics in front of me. I can't do what you just did.

Craig Carton (0:22)

No, I'm good with lyrics. Names, not so much, but lyrics, for whatever reason, names can elude me. There's like a couple for whatever reason that I literally trained myself to remember. Not that I talk about them all that much, but there's a couple names. One is Miguel Andujar with the Yankees. Anytime we got into a discussion, we would talk about the baby bombers. Yeah.

I knew it going into the conversation and it still would just elude me. Then the other one talking, Knicks for whatever reason, Mitchell Robinson. I had to say Mitchell Robinson.

Yeah, just for whatever reason, he would like in the middle of the conversation, his name would elude me. A new one with the Giants is now Wondell Robinson. That's another name that I've had to train myself to remember. For whatever reason, for whatever reason.

Chris McMonigle (1:04)

I see the signs. Wondell Robinson, you can't remember. Anytime touchdown, Tennessee, week one against the Jets, that's going to be a good bet.

Craig Carton (1:11)

That's actually not a bad idea. I like it. I'll go through all the names I can't think of and bet them. Interesting. 888-808-1019.

All right, we'll talk Rutgers, we'll talk a little bit of baseball. We'll get into more about how the Yankees and what they need to do to chase down the Rays. Big series starting tonight.

Bueller on the mound for San Diego against Max Freed, who will be piggybacked by Will Warren. So a couple of things about tonight, one, I think they need to see a much better version of Max Freed. His last start, although he got through the three and two-thirds without giving up too much damage, the fastball was more than just a tick down. It was several ticks down. He was throwing 93-94. We've seen 98-99. So I'm interested in getting a better performance from Max Freed tonight, maybe going a little bit deeper into the game. And then, Will Warren, is there pretty much going to have open tryouts in the bullpen? Let's see Will Warren come out of the bullpen and what he can do after a brilliant start against the Red Sox's last time out.

Chris McMonigle (2:09)

This is at the tone spot for Max Freed. And this is a series that I don't know how big it's going to play, but I think it's an enormous series because all this positive momentum, the schedule not being that brutal, but if they end up losing two out of three to an NL team, and I get it, the Padres aren't just juggernaut this year, people are going to start to say, oh, the Yankees, it's just an A-hole thing, they can't do it against the NL.

Craig Carton (2:32)

I mean, that's true. And just really inside the division, let's be honest, every game, the Rays lost last night, but they have three more games against the Rangers. The Rangers are a 500 baseball team, right? So I mean, if they have a good weekend here against Texas and the Yankees fall on their face against the Padres, you're staring right back at five games. I mean, you can't afford to move backwards anymore. The Yankees can't afford to move backwards if they want to win this division. So really every series, but this Padres team, they got swept by the raise.

Hopefully, the Yankees can go out there and take care of business and at least take two out of three. 888-808-1019. Let's go to John in New Jersey. What's up, John?

SPEAKER_3 (3:10)

Hey, thank you for taking my call.

Craig Carton (3:12)

You got it.

SPEAKER_3 (3:13)

So my opinion, for whatever it's worth, you should have your own show. And the station not having you have your own show is a huge mistake. I'm gonna tell you that right up the bat.

Craig Carton (3:25)

Well, I guess I, but here's my point.

Zach Gelb (3:27)

Well, thank you, John. I appreciate you saying that about me.

Craig Carton (3:29)

That's what I was gonna say. I hope you told him about that.
