Carton Show Big Mac. During the break there, Pete came through and he said, Dice Clay wants to come on the show. What do you want to do? And I said, well, the last time I had Dice on the show, he got mad at me, because I had my three-year-old at the time reciting the nursery rhymes. And he came in and didn't want to do any Dice Clay stuff. And he was like, that's terrible parenting, why would you ever do that? And I'm like, well, that sucks. Get out.
So I said to Pete, I'm a big fan still of the old school stuff from Dice Clay.
Is he willing to talk about the Dice Clay stuff? Because now he tried to become a serious actor, then he was doing comedy again, and I just got to find out what we're getting. So as long as you're okay with that. Because my first question is, do you ever get tired of saying, go go go go go?
**Chris McMonigle** (0:55)
And what if he says yes and I can't, I don't want to talk about it.
**Craig Carton** (0:58)
My gut is he goes, if you saw how much money I made every time I go, go go go, you keep doing it, he's right.
So I just got to find out, because I'm a fan, I'd love to get to hear his story. Like what was it like when you sold out the garden? Like doing dirty nursery rhymes, right? Sure. And spending half the time going, you know, with the cigarette and all that stuff. Like he was a phenomenon.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:22)
No, he absolutely was.
**Craig Carton** (1:23)
I mean, a little bit more for me than you age-wise, I think, because you're probably in your single digits.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:28)
But I remember, I remember smoking the cigarette with the armor on.
**Craig Carton** (1:30)
Yeah, go go go, merry merry, quite contrary. Fort Fairlane, of course, was one of his big first movies.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:37)
Yeah, with, what's his name? It was The Bad Guy, Wayne Newton.
**Craig Carton** (1:40)
Okay, then obviously Entourage.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:43)
Then he did some stuff on Entourage.
**Craig Carton** (1:45)
Then he had his own show, The Vegas, where he played himself.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:48)
Right.
**Craig Carton** (1:49)
Yeah, he lived in Vegas and all that stuff. This was maybe five, six years ago.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:51)
And then he played Lady Gaga's father in it.
**SPEAKER_3** (1:53)
Yeah, which I thought he was really good at.
**Craig Carton** (1:55)
He was good, yeah, he was good. So do me a favor, Petey, find out what Dice we're getting. And if he's willing to talk about the Dice stuff and doesn't spend half the time going goo goo goo, then I'm in.
**Chris McMonigle** (2:09)
I thought you wanted him to spend half the time going goo goo goo.
**Craig Carton** (2:11)
It doesn't like it, it gets it. It does get to a point where a couple of goo goo goo is fine. The ninth and tenth, when the joke doesn't land, you just referred back to a goo goo goo.
Like I saw him at the TROP once years ago, and this is like he was past his prime, and he was still hanging on to goo goo goo. And it got to the point where like, it's not funny. It was funny, but now it's not funny.
**Chris McMonigle** (2:37)
Is there a comedian with a schtick similar that it lasted forever?
**Craig Carton** (2:41)
Rich Little, that predates you, though.
**Chris McMonigle** (2:44)
Doing impressions.
**Craig Carton** (2:45)
He did all the impersonations.
**Chris McMonigle** (2:46)
No, but like, I guess Rodney Dangerfield's kind of just like, hey, you know.
**Craig Carton** (2:50)
But he transferred to movies successfully.
**Chris McMonigle** (2:52)
He did.
**Craig Carton** (2:53)
Only a handful of them, like Easy Money. If you have never seen Easy Money, it is a great Rodney movie. Back to School is a great Rodney movie. Caddyshock, obviously a great Rodney movie, but you can't name three others.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:06)
No, but I'm just saying like for stand up. Like did it ever get old? Like if you went to go see Dice Clay now, and he started doing the goo goo goo eventually, I know.
**SPEAKER_3** (3:15)
Pretty quickly.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:16)
Like his whole life, right? If Rodney Dangerfield came on and just started doing that, we'd be like, nobody would be like, Art enough!
**Craig Carton** (3:23)
Yeah, I called the suicide prevention line and put me on hold.
**SPEAKER_3** (3:25)
That was some situational humor about being a father. I don't think we'd be like that. I think we'd all be like that. You're no Anthony Gizelnik!
