Chris McMonigle (0:00)

Yeah, yeah!

Craig Carton (0:02)

254, the Giants sabotage Darius Slayton. That's just the way it goes. This is the way it goes. Meanwhile, the New York Jets, amped and ready to go. I heard Robert Sala on a podcast this morning talking about how the Jets' offense is gonna be a problem for people. Now, it's coach talk, I understand that. I don't think he's worried one bit as a defensive guru about the New York Jets, but he said it publicly, the Jets' offense is gonna be a problem for people.

No one's saying it about the Giants' offense.

I love football season. And Giants fans have gotten so sensitive lately. Like, you can't even have any fun anymore talking about the New York Giants. Like, if you're not drinking the Carbohydrate, all of a sudden, you're like persona non grata. Like, take your shoes off before you come inside my house with that attitude.

Chris McMonigle (0:56)

Well, you're killing him for cutting an average wide receiver at best.

Craig Carton (1:00)

Yeah, but Guy's been your best wide receiver for five years.

Chris McMonigle (1:02)

Yeah, I know, but that speaks more about the previous regime and what this wide receiver room has been.

Craig Carton (1:06)

So fair comment.

Chris McMonigle (1:07)

He's not the best receiver now.

Craig Carton (1:09)

By the way, he might be.

Chris McMonigle (1:10)

No, he's not.

Craig Carton (1:11)

Until Neighbors is 100%.

Chris McMonigle (1:13)

No, he's not as good as the other.

Craig Carton (1:15)

You can't tell me about Darnell Mooney. Just don't forget his name. Of course, Darnell Mooney hasn't had the career.

Chris McMonigle (1:21)

Darnell Mooney might be the best wide receiver on the Giants for the last five years, if he was here. As opposed to being... I understand that.

SPEAKER_3 (1:28)

So you can't use that.

Chris McMonigle (1:29)

I'm just saying, I don't think he's... I think he's better than Slayton.

Craig Carton (1:32)

I'm trying to find out when Horrible is going to make a decision that not just you, but I think you're representative of the Giants fan base, when one of you people is going to be like, yeah, I don't really quite understand that move.

Like, for example, oh, I don't know, your second year quarterback getting 10 total snaps in the preseason and going into the opening weekend of the year, having not taken a snap or thrown a ball in a game that had people trying to tackle him in a month and a half? Like, I'm just waiting, just waiting.

Chris McMonigle (2:06)

I was critical of that.

Craig Carton (2:07)

Because even Horrible said, we might have made the wrong decision on that. We don't know.

Chris McMonigle (2:11)

He doesn't know.

Craig Carton (2:12)

Yeah.

Chris McMonigle (2:13)

Sometimes you make decisions, you don't find out if they're right or wrong. That's fair. Until the scenario plays out.

Craig Carton (2:17)

That is fair.

Chris McMonigle (2:17)

Like, if he went in there and got hurt, we've all been saying, oh, wrong decision. So, like, we don't know.

Craig Carton (2:23)

By the way, that's fair.

Chris McMonigle (2:24)

But I'm just, like...

Craig Carton (2:26)

We'll push back on that.

Chris McMonigle (2:27)

No, and I was critical of it. And we'll find out. But the thing about that is, like, that's the NFL today. You want to criticize John Harbaugh for that, you're going to have to criticize every coach in the league.

Craig Carton (2:36)

Yeah, but I thought John Harbaugh, at least in Baltimore, John Harbaugh gave a rat's ass about the preseason. That's why he won, like, 24 consecutive games.

Chris McMonigle (2:43)

Yeah, but those games weren't won all by Lamar Jackson. No, for sure not, for sure not. Those games were won by the backup.

Craig Carton (2:49)

Jaxson Dart's also not Lamar Jackson.

Chris McMonigle (2:51)

No.

Craig Carton (2:51)

Just yet.

Chris McMonigle (2:52)

Not yet.

Craig Carton (2:53)

No, he does have two MVPs. Yes, just, you know, and is a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Jaxson Dart's played 10 games.

Chris McMonigle (3:02)

Correct. But he's looked good in those 10

Well, I think he's looked good in every game he played.

Craig Carton (3:09)

Was he actually, or was he 4-8, played 12 games, right?

SPEAKER_4 (3:11)

Was he the actual number?

Craig Carton (3:12)

Yeah.

Chris McMonigle (3:13)

He was awesome. Maybe the same game wasn't great for him.

Craig Carton (3:15)

You know what was great about Jaxson Dart? Let's give him this. What a great job in the playoffs last year. Yeah, he was brilliant. He showed me that that's a guy that you can really build a team around. Cause that playoff performance last year, woo!
