Whoo!
Chris McMonigle (0:01)
That's as good as it gets, baby.
Chris McMonigle (0:02)
Whatnot!
Craig Carton (0:03)
Yeah, my buddy's got a channel on Whatnot. Does he? Yeah, it's called Live and Inscribe.
Chris McMonigle (0:09)
Live and Inscribe on Whatnot.
Craig Carton (0:10)
He did it with Wally Backman the other day.
Chris McMonigle (0:12)
Really?
Craig Carton (0:12)
So he's got, so in other words, like, you're watching him on Whatnot, and he goes, yo, Wally, write this on a baseball for me. And then he does it on camera, and he sends it to you.
Chris McMonigle (0:22)
Yeah, they sell it, yeah.
Chris McMonigle (0:23)
No, I know.
Craig Carton (0:24)
Oh yeah, Chuck Knoblack on. He goes, Chuck Knoblack will write anything.
Yeah, like, your sister's ass. Chuck Knoblack.
Chris McMonigle (0:31)
Okay, by Chuck Knoblack. During the pandemic, we lost, spent way too much money on Whatnot.
Craig Carton (0:37)
Is that right?
Chris McMonigle (0:37)
Yep.
Craig Carton (0:38)
You should check out my boy's account. It's Live and Inscribe.
Chris McMonigle (0:41)
Live and Inscribe on Whatnot.
Craig Carton (0:42)
I think he's called the baseball doctor, doctor of balls or something.
Chris McMonigle (0:46)
The ball doctor.
Craig Carton (0:47)
The ball doctor?
Chris McMonigle (0:48)
Yeah.
Craig Carton (0:48)
Something like that. I'm sorry, something like that. I don't know what it is.
Chris McMonigle (0:52)
Thankfully, I've avoided the ball doctor.
Chris McMonigle (0:53)
Have you avoided the ball doctor? I don't think so.
Chris McMonigle (0:55)
My balls have been good.
Craig Carton (0:56)
Now I'm dying to find out what his actual thing is. Yeah, no.
Chris McMonigle (0:59)
Whatnot. And I was buying breaks and cards and it's fine.
Chris McMonigle (1:04)
Oh, you got into that whole kind of thing.
Chris McMonigle (1:06)
You could just go, I'm telling you.
Chris McMonigle (1:08)
Oh, sorry, just real quick. Okay.
Craig Carton (1:10)
It's called Just Balls No Strikes.
Chris McMonigle (1:12)
Just Balls No Strikes.
Craig Carton (1:13)
But my buddy Joe who does it, I think is known as, oh, he's known as the ball king.
Chris McMonigle (1:18)
The ball king.
Craig Carton (1:19)
Yeah, that's a good nickname for you.
Chris McMonigle (1:20)
The ball king?
Craig Carton (1:21)
What do they call you in prison? They called me the, that's not a good prison nickname. I take that back. Yeah. Totally take that back. The ball king. I apologize. That was rude.
Chris McMonigle (1:28)
Very popular.
Craig Carton (1:29)
Nobody wants to be the ball king in prison.
Chris McMonigle (1:31)
No.
Craig Carton (1:31)
No. Anyway, yeah.
Chris McMonigle (1:34)
But yeah, no, you could just sit there. If you're a sports memorabilia or sports card guy.
Chris McMonigle (1:39)
You get into a gambling, right?
Chris McMonigle (1:41)
You could just sit there. Yeah, could you just sit there? Like they have these, the guys, like you go to their page and it's literally just, like they have a million cards and they just put it in front of the camera and auction it off. So like, all right, here's a, you know, Jackson Dart rookie card and then boom, you're trying to, within 15 seconds. Oh man, that one only went for $25. What a steal. Like you sit there trying to bid with the bids.
Chris McMonigle (2:02)
That's good. It's like home shopping.
Chris McMonigle (2:03)
It's like home shopping, but it's quick.
That's the ones I get addicted to. You end up watching and they'll just put random cards in front of the camera, auction it off and they'll be talking about whatever they want to talk about while they're doing it. And you're trying to win these auctions and before you know it, you're out here at 100 bucks just on a Friday night, a couple more tiniest and I spent four or 500 bucks buying cards.
Craig Carton (2:23)
Are you a net winner or a net loser investment wise?
Chris McMonigle (2:27)
Oh, in the cards?
Craig Carton (2:28)
Yeah.
Chris McMonigle (2:29)
Net loser.
Craig Carton (2:29)
Buy a lot or just a little bit?
Chris McMonigle (2:31)
Well, I told you what happened to me was I just started to dip my toes in the water and I got a Bobby Witt Jr. auto, which is worth a couple hundred bucks or something. No, more than that.
Chris McMonigle (2:40)
Oh, is that right?
Chris McMonigle (2:40)
Yeah, I did very well on it.
Chris McMonigle (2:42)
So then I did well on it.
Craig Carton (2:43)
It's like winning your first wager.
Chris McMonigle (2:45)
Got it. Exactly right.
Chris McMonigle (2:47)
So I did well on it. Unfortunately, it was during COVID and trying to get the cards graded cost so much money. So it cost me like four hundred dollars to expedite it and get it back in a reasonable amount of time. So I mean, I sold it for really good money. So I made more than 20X on my investment.
