Dun dun dun dun, pow pow pow, pow pow pow, 888-808-109.
As you giant fans still bask in the glow of a three-in-one start, and Jet fans are upset about a one-to-three start, Yankee fans rightfully so apoplectic because I think the prevailing thought amongst many Yankee fans, including yourself, is, here we go again. Saw this one coming, that kind of rhetoric. And it's hard to argue against it, by the way.
Chris McMonigle (0:29)
Listen, I'm going to be the, I'm not the, I saw this coming, I didn't.
SPEAKER_3 (0:34)
I feel like you were.
Chris McMonigle (0:35)
No, I'm apoplectic, I'm pissed off.
Craig Carton (0:37)
But you didn't see it coming.
Chris McMonigle (0:39)
I didn't see last night.
SPEAKER_3 (0:39)
You thought this team would be different.
Chris McMonigle (0:40)
You thought four, again, this isn't the same.
SPEAKER_3 (0:44)
He dropped the ball.
Chris McMonigle (0:45)
I know, I'm sorry about that. That happened once. This didn't happen last, there's no hitting, I saw coming.
Craig Carton (0:49)
Yes.
Chris McMonigle (0:50)
Not scoring enough runs, I saw coming. Yes. Making three errors in the first four batters, I did not see coming.
Craig Carton (0:54)
I don't think anyone saw that coming. And especially the McMonigle, it's like a lazy line drive to them.
Chris McMonigle (0:59)
This team has been better defensively, they're not great, but they've been better defensively and they stressed it.
Craig Carton (1:05)
Yeah.
Chris McMonigle (1:05)
They told us, this is their focus. Right. They're making decisions based on playing the better defensive players and it still has.
Craig Carton (1:14)
Not just that, they made a point during the broadcast and I like to say that the Yankees in between the two games worked on bunt defense. Yeah. Like most teams don't do that that much in the playoffs during the season. And they spent hours, I guess, working on their bunt defense.
Chris McMonigle (1:32)
And look, this isn't an excuse, but that ballpark is a freaking disaster.
Craig Carton (1:37)
Yeah, that's not why they lost, though.
Chris McMonigle (1:38)
No, but no.
SPEAKER_3 (1:39)
I don't hear about that.
Craig Carton (1:40)
I don't hear about the ballpark. Ballpark had nothing to do with the Yankees losing. The Yankees, who are the Yankees?
Chris McMonigle (1:45)
No, I hear you.
Craig Carton (1:46)
Right. The line soft line drive to McMahon. That ain't a ballpark.
Chris McMonigle (1:52)
It's off the ground.
Craig Carton (1:53)
Yeah, but it came to him as a line drive, off the hop.
He put his back hand up, right past him. What happened?
Chris McMonigle (2:00)
I don't know. And then you see his walk, he's like, I don't know what just happened.
Craig Carton (2:03)
Yeah. He actually looked at the glove like there was a hole in that Wilson A2000 glove.
Chris McMonigle (2:08)
I don't know.
Craig Carton (2:08)
And I don't know because they showed the glove. I felt bad for Wilson. They're like, no, no, our gloves usually work.
Here's Nick in Middletown.
SPEAKER_3 (2:17)
What a nightmare.
Craig Carton (2:18)
I'm the fan. And Nicky, how are you doing today, pal?
SPEAKER_3 (2:21)
What's up, fellas? Thanks for taking the call. Love the show.
Craig Carton (2:24)
All right.
SPEAKER_3 (2:26)
So my buddy, Rob, diehard Yankees fan, he messages Jazz after the game, like a psycho, and Jazz responds on Instagram. So I wanted to share that with you and get your thoughts.
Craig Carton (2:37)
I'd love to hear. What did he write to Jazz first?
SPEAKER_3 (2:42)
So he sends Jazz the Webster definition of fundamentals. Then he says, just wanted to give you the definition of what fundamentals mean, because it's incredibly clear that you lack in that area when it comes to the game of baseball.
So Jazz responds and says, that's why you play on the Yankees and I don't, huh? Crying face.
Craig Carton (3:08)
Ha, so he told a joke. Look at Jazz Chisholm laughing after a game.
SPEAKER_3 (3:13)
This guy's a loser.
Craig Carton (3:16)
He's not going to be a Yankee after tomorrow. That's possible.
Chris McMonigle (3:20)
I mean, I hear you, but like he shouldn't have even responded.
SPEAKER_3 (3:23)
But like, you know, I mean, C Mac, you're the smartest Yankee fan in the tri-state.
Craig Carton (3:28)
Wow.
SPEAKER_3 (3:28)
This guy commits this guy commits 30 errors. You know, the reason why they lost. And he takes the Instagram after the game in response to my moron friend Rob.
Chris McMonigle (3:38)
Agree.
SPEAKER_3 (3:38)
What are we doing?
Craig Carton (3:39)
Yeah, he shouldn't be responding to morons or to anybody else on Instagram.
