Craig Carton (0:00)
There's no NFL games tonight. The NBA hasn't started.
Chris McMonigle (0:04)
I know there's hockey fans out there, it's fine.
Craig Carton (0:06)
But the world's sports fans' eyeballs are on this stadium tonight. And of course, as a competitor, of course he wants to be out here. This is what he does for a living. It'd be like if you and I had laryngitis during sweeps week. And we're like, this is going to be the most important week of our shows. But I can't talk.
Guess what? Then you can't work.
SPEAKER_4 (0:30)
That's right. Where's Zach Gelb? That's just the way it is.
Craig Carton (0:33)
No more Zach Gelbs.
But I don't care how many times Roger Cuyman comes on the show. No, I love Zach. Zach's a good dude. Good dude. Here's Ronnie. I'm the fan, Carton Show Big Mac. Ronnie, good afternoon. How are you, sir?
Chris McMonigle (0:54)
Hey, I got one thing about today's page lineup I want to know.
SPEAKER_3 (0:58)
Yeah. Is Kreiner on the team?
Craig Carton (1:00)
Chris Kreiner?
Chris McMonigle (1:02)
Has he been re-inducted as a ranger or no?
Craig Carton (1:05)
Ronnie, you've got some balls. You've got some balls calling this particular show.
SPEAKER_4 (1:12)
Yeah, you don't think so.
Craig Carton (1:13)
At 3 o'clock in the afternoon, five hours before the Yankees take the field in the wild card round, game one, asking me about a failed ranger, a failed ranger who may have had a little bit of success since he left New York, when all the focus today, and I respect the fact that the rangers opened up their season tonight in Boston against the Bruins. And sure, assuming that's the one, what time is that the puck drops? 7 or 5? 8 o'clock? Same time. The NHL is so stupid.
And this is the problem with the NHL.
SPEAKER_4 (1:47)
And they do it in New York, Boston, knowing very well these two teams were in the postseason last year, this very week.
Craig Carton (1:53)
Well, at least I assume the schedule was done like six months ago.
SPEAKER_4 (1:56)
Still, but they knew six months ago that...
Craig Carton (1:57)
But you know the Yankees and Red Sox are playing at 8 o'clock, meaning Red Sox fans and Yankee fans, by default, Rangers and Bruins fans aren't watching.
So that they should drop the puck at 7 or 5 Give me a period and a half of hockey. And then I'll switch over. Not everybody has a multiple TV setup like you, Biggs.
SPEAKER_4 (2:18)
Everyone should. Everybody should.
Craig Carton (2:20)
I agree with that.
SPEAKER_4 (2:21)
You should.
Craig Carton (2:22)
Everybody should. Well, I got the 85 inches. I know.
SPEAKER_4 (2:24)
I'm very impressed.
Craig Carton (2:25)
I got the 85 inches.
SPEAKER_3 (2:26)
Subox.
Craig Carton (2:27)
I'm good.
SPEAKER_3 (2:27)
I got two TVs now.
SPEAKER_4 (2:28)
There's only one subject on my mind right now.
SPEAKER_3 (2:30)
Yankee baseball. That's it. That's it. I hope the Rangers win.
Craig Carton (2:33)
I hope New York sweeps Boston tonight. But the NHL is stupid.
SPEAKER_4 (2:37)
If the ice melts, I wouldn't care.
Craig Carton (2:38)
When it comes to scheduling. And I know the Rangers should open up the season because they're the Rangers and all that stuff. But let's be honest, Ranger fans, you are not watching the Ranger game tonight. It's going to be a rough year, too. Unless you're a Mets fan, I guess.
If you're a Ranger fan slash Mets fan, you might watch hockey because you love hockey, and to you, baseball is dead. That's certainly possible. But if you're a Yankee fan and a Ranger fan, come on, fan.
SPEAKER_4 (3:01)
There's only one game tonight, Craig. I don't care what kind of fan you are. I agree. There's one game tonight, and it's Cam Schlitler on the mound.
Craig Carton (3:08)
How many wins away are the Yankees from the World Series? 13? Is that what it is?
SPEAKER_4 (3:11)
Is it 13 now?
SPEAKER_3 (3:12)
Two and three is five.
Craig Carton (3:14)
Five and four is nine. Nine and four is 13
The New York Yankees are 13 wins away from their 28th World Series Championship, and you're watching hockey.
SPEAKER_3 (3:24)
It starts tonight.
Craig Carton (3:27)
I wonder what Boomer's watching tonight. He's probably got multiple TVs, though.
SPEAKER_4 (3:31)
He's probably got multiple TVs.
Craig Carton (3:32)
Although Boomer's like a one-TV laptop guy outside of the man cave, which is just an honorarium to himself. You ever been to Boomer's house?
SPEAKER_3 (3:40)
No.
Craig Carton (3:40)
Sadly, I have.
SPEAKER_3 (3:41)
Yeah.
