1019, did you happen to see what the NFL just made an announcement?
The NFL has made a public request, a public request of the United States government. Are you aware of what's going on?
Chris McMonigle (0:14)
No.
Craig Carton (0:16)
Oh, you're not, are you?
Chris McMonigle (0:18)
To get better grants in Brazil?
Craig Carton (0:21)
No, by the way, the grants is fine in Brazil.
So, Homeland Security, there's apparently a migrant, I think they call it a vans, it's like a group of migrants that are walking towards the southern border and are looking to make entry into the United States of America. Now, we don't do politics in this show. It's not a political thing, but just follow me for a second.
Chris McMonigle (0:48)
Okay.
Craig Carton (0:49)
The Department of Homeland Security put out a tweet, okay, with a picture of former Eagle Hall of Famer, Brian Dawkins, okay? Now, remember how Brian Dawkins used to enter the field when he got introduced before a game? He was like all the smoke and stuff, and he was like, like a rabid dog, and he was on the ground?
Chris McMonigle (1:11)
Yes.
Craig Carton (1:12)
So, the Department of Homeland Security used that picture, and I got some video of him being like a rabid dog, and getting ready to enter the field on Twitter, saying the border is closed. Okay? Like, if you try to enter a country, we're going to come after you, like Brian Dawkins attacking a wide receiver over the middle. Okay. So obviously, based on whatever your political persuasion might be, or your belief in immigration, not for the show, you'll feel one way or the other way about it, right? The NFL has now publicly requested that the Department of Homeland Security take that picture down. Do you think they will?
No. I'm with you.
SPEAKER_3 (2:02)
I don't think they will.
Craig Carton (2:03)
I think they're emboldened, by the way, by the requests of the NFL. Yeah. So you can look it up. It's all over Twitter. Yeah.
I mean, Eagles play tonight against the Bears. I assume that's why they picked Brian Dawkins. Let's see. But yeah. And it's just like the one I saw was just a still photograph. And it's Brian Dawkins kind of like down on all fours. You know, like he's going to attack like a pit bull, which is how we used to come on to the field to play for Philadelphia in the pregame introductions.
The border is closed.
Chris McMonigle (2:38)
Yeah, I see one where it's...
SPEAKER_3 (2:39)
Do you see it?
Chris McMonigle (2:40)
Yeah, someone's leading report, whatever that Twitter handle is, says, Justin, huge migrant caravan headed towards the US southern border, to which they responded with a picture of a GIF of Dawkins Highlights saying, our time has come.
Craig Carton (2:56)
No, no, you gotta go to the other one.
SPEAKER_3 (2:59)
Okay.
Craig Carton (3:00)
Just go to the, I guess, DHS, whatever it is, Twitter account.
SPEAKER_3 (3:04)
Yeah.
Craig Carton (3:04)
It's just a still photograph of Brian Dawkins.
SPEAKER_3 (3:07)
You see that one?
Chris McMonigle (3:07)
Yes, that was their retweet to that.
SPEAKER_3 (3:09)
God, okay, got it.
Chris McMonigle (3:09)
So then they reply to their own tweet of our time has come and a GIF of all the highlights to just a picture of him crawling out of the smoke. The border is closed.
Craig Carton (3:19)
The border is closed. Yes. People are going crazy, as you might imagine.
Chris McMonigle (3:28)
I can imagine.
Craig Carton (3:28)
Eagle fans are upset. Some NFL fans are upset. Brian Dawkins might be upset for all I know.
Chris McMonigle (3:34)
I have no idea.
Craig Carton (3:35)
I thought that was funny. Sometimes sports does collide with real life. Today was one of those.
I thought it was because the Eagles play tonight.
Chris McMonigle (3:47)
Maybe. Maybe it's the guy who runs the Twitter's Eagle fan.
SPEAKER_3 (3:50)
Possibly. Possibly. It could be that simple.
Craig Carton (3:52)
Can you imagine the thought process that went through that one?
Chris McMonigle (3:54)
No.
Craig Carton (3:55)
I'm in charge of the DHS Twitter account. I'm an Eagle fan. Eagles play tonight. I know what I'm going to do.
Give me Brian Dawkins.
Chris McMonigle (4:08)
That's how we'll prepare for that caravan.
Craig Carton (4:11)
Tippy's in Trumbull, Connecticut on the fan. Tippy, good afternoon.
SPEAKER_3 (4:15)
Hey, good afternoon, guys. So I am a giant fan, and I like the McCarthy signing as well. And I'm not a Michigan guy, like a previous caller. What do you like about it? Well, to call him a failure, first of all, is ridiculous. Why? The guy's been a winner. He was 27 to 1 in college. He's 6 and 4, like was pointed out earlier. I mean, who goes 6 and 4 in the NFL?
