Hour 2: Caballero's Egregious At-Bat Infuriates Craig and Big Mac

302 Carton Show, hope you had a great weekend. Big Mac here as well. We're gonna be at Jet Camp tomorrow, and Aaron Glenn's gonna be stopping by. I believe Dan Moogie's gonna be stopping by.
Four or five players are gonna be stopping by.
We may see our old friend Todd Bowles tomorrow. And we may bump into Baker Mayfield tomorrow. So, Jets and Tampa Bay have a practice together. So, we'll be out there tomorrow and do some football for you. But Friday night, Yankees trying to complete the comeback, trying to get a much-needed W to start the series off against the Atlanta Braves. Caballero up at the plate. Aaron Boone gives him the ear, the nose, the chin, the ear, which of course means lay down the butt, sister.

But after the first pitch, well before the first pitch, in which they threw back to second base, he even looked at a butt.

Then the wheels fell off the at bat. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Big Mac.

Well, I don't know. You were lucky enough to see it. I don't know if everybody was so lucky to see the worst at bat in the history of baseball.

I saw it.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:10)
Because that's what it was.
They tie the game. They don't give up a run in the 10th because Bednar comes in and does the job. All he needs to do. Now mind you, he is a utility infielder who's hitting 250 who just lost his job to a young prospect who's come up and taken over the starting shortstop role. This would be a good time to do something positive to help the team win. And instead he puts forth what can only be expressed as one of the worst exhibitions of baseball I've ever seen in my life. He takes the first pitch. All he needs to do is get a bump down and move a runner over to third.
First pitch, he bumps through a fast ball, I don't know, six to eight inches off the plate. Right? Second pitch, he gets the very clever idea that he's going to pull the bat back. Shows bunt, pulls the bat back, and then proceeds to swing at a breaking ball that I would say was six feet outside of the zone.

Yeah, sure was.

It was almost as if he thought he was so smart. By pulling the bat back, he was going to catch them off guard that he made up his mind he was going to swing at anything.
They're charging from first and third. Now I know you want to get a good bunt down, and part of the problem with the first pitch is he waits until the absolute last second to bring down the bat for the bunt and bunts right through a bad fastball. Then he swings at a breaking ball that is 10 feet out of the zone. Then he decides to bunt again and fouls the ball off for a strikeout. It was in three pitches the absolute definition of what has been the problem with this Yankee team in general. They can't do the little things and they can't play situational baseball. And this is from the guy that we cry needs to play over Volpe. Myself included, I'll raise my hand. We scream, he's got to play, he's got to play. Something good always happens. That's my favorite, Craig. Something good always happens when Caballero is out there. The dude is getting picked on by Major League Baseball because he will not stop playing ridiculous games. He's getting pitch violations all the time, including now, not even for himself. He sets Austin Wells back a strike by not getting the first base fast enough, and then he decides to bump through an outside fastball, swing at a breaking ball 10 feet away, and then bunt foul for a strikeout. In a game, they must win an extra innings. We know the bullpen is desperate. You have to win the game right there because God forbid, you have to send Bednar or somebody else out there for the top of the 11th.
And that's the at bat he gives. Honestly, I don't want to hear another word about him and being a pest and be the only pest he is is to the New York Yankees.
That's it. He's real, that at bat Craig. You never want to see him ever again. I would, I don't know if I would go that far. I wouldn't complain. If I never see him again off of that one at bat, I would not complain. That's how bad that at bat was.
