Welcome back to The Michael Kay Show, the ESPN New York Beach Bash here at Bar A, Lake Como. Fans continuing to file in. We thank you all for dealing with the heat.
Don was so desperate to get free food, he left. Rick's trying to relax his back, and that's fine, because now we get a chance to talk to my good buddy, Alan Hahn of Don Hahn and Rosenberg on afternoon show.
How are you doing, Alan?

**Alan Hahn** (0:54)
I'm good.

**Michael Kay** (0:54)
Yeah?

**Alan Hahn** (0:55)
I'm sad that June's over. It was the greatest month of my professional life.

**Michael Kay** (0:59)
It was pretty good, but you probably were tired, but a good tired.

**Alan Hahn** (1:03)
Yeah, you know it. You know that feeling. You go through a run like that, you get to the end, and it's like a lot of people wanted that series to end as fast as possible. But then when it ended, you were almost disappointed there weren't more games, because it really was such a fun run.

**Michael Kay** (1:18)
So let me throw this at you, because I've lived this too.
Let's say this goes on the next one for the next five years, and your season goes to the end of June for the next five years. We'll just still be excited on year four.

**Alan Hahn** (1:33)
I don't know, were you excited in 2000?

**Michael Kay** (1:37)
2000 I was, because there was no traveling.

**Alan Hahn** (1:40)
You didn't have to travel, I was there.

**Michael Kay** (1:41)
But 2001 was a bear, because we're going to go on and on.

**Alan Hahn** (1:44)
Going to Arizona and all the other stuff, right? Yeah. I don't know. You know what? That's a problem I'd love to have.

**Michael Kay** (1:49)
Yeah.

**Alan Hahn** (1:49)
That's a complaint I'd love to make.

**Michael Kay** (1:52)
Now, I said earlier that I'm not really stressed out over losing Mitchell Robinson. He played 13 minutes a game during the postseason. I know what he does, but I also know what he doesn't do, and he doesn't play every game.
I understand the second apron is probably the big reason why. But why am I not freaking out that Mitchell Robinson is gone?

**Alan Hahn** (2:13)
I think you'll freak out if they don't get a capable replacement.
And you've got to remember, he had, well, I guess I'll call it the second most important offensive rebound in franchise history. The first one is obvious, it's OG's tip. But it is the second most important, and it was a critical one. And he had a lot of moments that really you don't notice until he's gone, a lot of ways he can be effective. But they have to figure out how they're going to replace him. I think losing Huck Porty hurt just as much. Yeah, why did that happen?

**Michael Kay** (2:48)
It wasn't a lot of money.

**Alan Hahn** (2:49)
No, they gave him a million more.
And the Knicks, because they have to be real careful with the second apron, the thinking was don't offer him a qualifying offer, re-sign him at a veteran's minimum, which is $200,000 less than the qualifying offer was. It's not that big of a deal. And instead he took, the Sixers gave him a million dollars more, one million dollars more.

**Michael Kay** (3:10)
For a year or for the length of a contract?

**Alan Hahn** (3:12)
A year, yeah.

**Michael Kay** (3:13)
But am I naïve to just have Faith and Leon Rose that will find a way?

**Alan Hahn** (3:18)
That's exactly, I think he's earned that, right?

**Michael Kay** (3:20)
Right.

**Alan Hahn** (3:20)
Like that's where it's at. Look, again, all the championship teams that you've covered. The Yankees never returned the entire team.

**SPEAKER_1** (3:27)
No.

**Alan Hahn** (3:27)
There are always pieces that you're like, I hate to see that guy go.

**Michael Kay** (3:30)
Not sure he won the MVP. He was gone the next year.

**Alan Hahn** (3:32)
Yeah. And they haven't won since. And they haven't won since.

**Michael Kay** (3:34)
He was gone the next year.
