So we're going to start with some baseball. A lot to get into. Jet Legend Wayne Chrebet stops by the show at 1.30. We'll do some football talk today. Also, the Knicks keeping the band together. Jordan Clarkson resigned. So I love that move by the Knicks front office. We'll talk about that. But we start with the Yankees because I have been dying to get on the air to talk about this disgraceful baseball team. That every single summer, we go through the same thing. In fact, I almost had Ray producing the show, pull one of these segments from last year around this time, when I filled in for Michael. And we talked about the Yankees' summer swoon. It's not a June swoon, it is a summer swoon. And I have the data to back it up, that this is just what the Yankees do. This is what they do. So yes, they're about to play, coming up, and they're going to try and avoid losing three out of four to the Rays. I don't feel good about their chances. The Yankees are going with a bullpen game. Paul Blackburn is going to start against Drew Rasmussen, whose career against the Yankees is 4-1 with a.89ERA. And I don't know if you guys are aware, the Yankees don't do this thing called score runs. Like last night, they didn't score any runs, which has happened far too much, and some of the data and the historic data of the ineptitude of this franchise, it's embarrassing. And the Yankee standard should be higher than just being one of the wild cards in an awful American league. But I brought up the summer swoon because this has fired me up for a while now. Since 2021, here were the Yankees' records and then either in June, July, or August, how they played on the baseball field. 2021, they were 29 and 21 Then they had a 12 and 20 stretch and were 41 and 41 2022, they got off to a historically great start. Remember that? Just the best team we've seen since 98 Those were conversations in the first half of 22 61 and 23, they started that year. They then had a 12 and 25 stretch and their record dropped all the way to 73 and 48 at one point. If Judge did not hit 62 homers winning the MVP that year, they very easily could have lost the division and maybe missed the playoffs. 2023, 49 and 41, Aaron Judge gets hurt. They have a 13 and 27 stretch in there. And their record at one point dropped as low as to 62 and 68 before they rallied to finish with a winning record. 2024, they go to the World Series, they have Juan Soto hitting right in front of Aaron Judge. 50 and 22 they start, then they have a 10 and 23 stretch. And then last year, 42 and 25 they start, they have a 19 and 30 stretch. Their record at one point dropped to 61 and 55 They lost the division last year. Don't tell me they had the same amount of wins as Toronto. The reason why they played in the wild card round is because they blew too many damn games. And the same thing is happening this year where I don't think they're winning the division. I keep hearing at all the Yankees are better than the Rays, are they? Because the Rays win. They do the little things that matter like, I don't know, put the ball in play. When you try a sacrifice squeeze, guess what? They're ready. Or safety squeeze, they're ready, they make the play, they don't beat themselves. They're not like the Yankees are breaking franchise records for unearned runs allowed. They're a good baseball team that's well run, that gets the most out of their players. Whereas the Yankees' best players, they underperform, the prospects that we're banking on, they stink. Anthony Volpe should not be playing, period, enough. Nice guy, respect him. I feel bad for him in some regard. He shouldn't be playing. And it's beyond just blaming the players for guys like Volpe or Wells. It's on Brian Cashman.
