And a good afternoon everybody. This is indeed The Michael Kay Show. We thank you for joining us on this Monday, September 14th. It is 2026 and it's a big New York Victory Weekend. Me and you for two, those are the rules of engagement. It's the fastest moving two hours in sports talk radio. The Giants win, the Jets win, the Yankees win. Now, there had to be one losing New York team because the Yankees were playing the Mets, so the Mets lost, but they played pretty well in yesterday's game. They had the same amount of hits as the Yankees, but the Yankees won 2-0 behind the brilliant Cam Schlittler. We'll get into that deeper a little bit later on, but we start off now for the Big Blue Report, brought to you by Kings Hawaiian. And the Giants won 28-20. And if you think, oh, okay, it's just one win, I get it, it's just one win, but they don't win in the first week all that often. They've lost in the first game eight of the last nine years. They've lost eight straight week one primetime games against the Cowboys since 1986 So don't sneeze at this. Don't look at this and say, big deal, it is a big deal. You have a new coach, you want to actually play well in your first game behind him. And they did just that. They outplayed the Cowboys, they outpowered them, they outworked them, and they won. And I loved what I saw from Jackson Dart. Dart really had a really, really strong game. He spread the wealth around. He threw three touchdowns. He did everything that you wanted to do. 23 for 29 for 230 yards and three touchdowns. He ran the ball, got hit hard, out of bounds for a personal foul, but he popped up and he was okay. And he showed how much his teammates were behind him. They jumped up, they defended him, but they didn't draw any kind of silly foul. Neighbors did play. I always thought that he was going to. I think that would gainshift on the Giants part. And the bottom line is he played. He had six catches, 69 yards. It was likely that he had a better game. He had eight catches and nine targets for 78 yards. And Cam Scadaboo went for 81 yards and a touchdown and a flip. Was it perfect for the Giants? No, it wasn't perfect. But I keep telling everybody this. The first couple of weeks, that's exhibition. They didn't play anybody during the preseason games. And you saw that throughout the first week. Sluggish football, not sharp, not whatever what you would want them to play in week 9 The Giants had 4 fumbles.
They had some penalty yards as well. That's the bottom line. They got to clean that up. But the beautiful thing is that you could have 4 fumbles and you can still win the game. 28 to 20 So I give them a lot of credit.
They never used to beat Dak Prescott. They were 1-14 coming into this game against Prescott. You know what they did? They beat him pretty nicely. They beat him pretty nicely. Now the interesting thing is we all thought that the Cowboy compromised offensive line was not going to be able to protect Dak Prescott. That was not the case at all. They protected him quite well. It was a giant offensive line that actually forced its will on the game. You know, they opened up holes for the running game. They, for the most part, protected Jackson Dart. All in all, that's a good win. Let's not pick apart the negativity. Let's not look at any of the things that didn't work out. It did work out. This is the beginning of the John Harbaugh era. That's all you want to know. One of the big reasons he took this job is he liked what he saw from Jackson Dart. Year two of Jackson Dart, he looked composed. He made some really good throws, threaded the needle. Shows you everything that you want the quarterback to be. Everything you wanted a quarterback to be. Cam Scadaboo looks like he's all the way back from the horrific injury. The Giants have a lot of firepower on offense. Wide receiver with Likely, and if Neighbors is back, you gotta like what you see. You gotta like what you see.
