Jake Asbin in for Michael, taking you till 3 o'clock. Hope you're all having a great day. Much better weather day today than yesterday. That's why the Yankees are going to be playing not one, but two games today after last night's rain out. Yankees Pirates game one, the starter Garrett Cole. Game two, Max Freed. And what's crazy about saying that out loud is that the best pitcher in the Yankee rotation is neither one of those guys. It's a guy that, let's be real, none of us have ever heard of when the Yankees signed Max Freed to pair him up with Garrett Cole to be the two aces in the rotation. That was the vision when the Yankees signed Freed to an eight-year contract after the 2024 season. And to this point, we've yet to see Cole and Freed pitch in the rotation at the same time. When Cole came back, Freed was already hurt. Last year, Cole missed the entire year, and Freed was brilliant. But we have never seen them pitch in the rotation together, and how cool is it that they're going to pitch on the same day, game one and game two. So if there's a reason to go to the ballpark today, good weather, and you get a chance to see Cole and Freed back to back for the New York Yankees. And again, it's crazy because Cam Schlitler is their best pitcher. He's the guy that could take home the Cy Young Award for the American League at the end of the year, and when the Yankees signed Freed, I don't think any Yankee fan, unless you're like super hardcore into the minor league stuff, knew who Cam Schlitler was. Kind of crazy if you think about it. Number to call to be on our show today is 800-919-3776.
We got an action-packed guest list for you. One week from today, training camp for the Jets and Giants gets underway. In fact, both teams will have hit the practice field at this time one week from today. That's how close we are to football. That's how close we are to training camp and then the ramp up period with the preseason and eventually the openers for both the Jets and the Giants. Jets in Nashville taking on Robert Sala and the Titans. Giants at home taking on Dac and the Cowboys.
It will be here before we know it.
So we're football heavy with our guests. Rich Cimini at 1.30.
Mike Greenberg at 2 o'clock. We'll talk some baseball and some Knicks with Greeny as well. And Jordan Ronan at 2.30. So Ronan, Cimini, Jet and Giant angle covered, and then Greeny at the top of Dac's tower. Of course, Yankees in action. Mets playing today just after 2 o'clock. So we got plenty to discuss from now until 3 o'clock. Again, the number to be on the show is 800-919-3776.
So if you think about it, there's so much optimism for the Giants, and unless you're just like a pie in the sky Jet fan, and I talk to Jet fans every day on my YouTube show, I don't get the same level of optimism that I get from the Giant fans who have called in this week or the Giant fans I have in my life. The Giant fan feels like they got the two biggest things you need to be a consistent winner in the NFL, head coach and quarterback. The head coach has won when he was with the Ravens and was about as successful as any coach in the league during that time, with multiple quarterbacks, by the way. This wasn't just a Belichick Brady thing where you have the best quarterback ever and then you can't win with anyone else. I mean, Harbaugh made the transition from Flacco to Lamar Jackson. Like, that shows me something. Andy Reid going from Philly and winning, but never winning the big one, and then having all the success with the Chiefs, that tells me the guy can win everywhere he's been. I value that in my coaches, Parcells, being able to go to all these different places and build it up from nothing and win. Like, that to me is a really good sign for a coach, and I think Harbaugh has that type of impact.
