Are all batteries the same?
That's like asking if all soccer players are the same. Take Messi, the most decorated player ever. Is there any other player who has achieved that? No, just him. Now take Duracell. Is there any other battery with power boost ingredients inside? No, just Duracell. Remember, goats only trust goats, because they're built different, and Messi only trusts Duracell.

This is indeed The Michael Kay Show. We thank you for joining us on this Tuesday, June 30th, 2026 Me and you for two. Those are the rules of engagement. It's the fastest two hours on sports talk radio anywhere, anywhere in the country. I defy you to find 120 minutes that go by faster than these 120 minutes. You know why? Because I've got great co-hosts and the membership number is 1-800-919-3776.
That's the password. So make it known now, dial it now, because we got a lot of stuff to talk about. I said this over and over at the beginning of the month.
Thank goodness for the New York Knicks, because they were providing cover for the New York Mets. Nobody was concentrating on how bad the Mets were. Well, now, not only do the lack of Knicks show you how bad the Mets are, but they're not providing any cover for this Yankee collapse that we are now watching.
The loss of losing Ryan McMahon was starting to come down on the team.
And it just continues. Now a lot of people who for some reason or another don't understand when I say the things I say.
So I said this yesterday that I warned you and that you shouldn't be freaking out. I didn't say you shouldn't be upset.
You should be upset. They are playing terrible baseball, whether it's their reserves that are doing it, the depth that's doing it. It's awful to watch. It just is. There's no getting around it. There's no putting lipstick on a pig. What I was trying to say, maybe I'm just not as verbal as I should be as a 25 year radio host. I said, don't be surprised by it. But you could be upset by it. If you're a fan of a team, and the team is playing the way the Yankees are playing right now, you should be upset.
Yeah, they miss Judge. Yeah, they miss Grisham. Yeah, they miss Freed. Yeah, they miss McMahon. By the way, three errors, big errors over the last five games at third base, three different players, none of them McMahon. So you could talk about McMahon's 215 batting average. But one thing McMahon brings you at third base is for the most part, certitude and that the ball is going to be caught and the out is going to be made. Yesterday, the error came by Caballero. In the last game in Boston, it came by Oswaldo Cabrera. Before that, it came by Ahmed Rosario. So don't judge people totally by what they do for you offensively. Yankees have enough offense when everything is right that you can appreciate the value of a Ryan McMahon. So yeah, they miss him. But that means that you're going to see some regression. But that doesn't mean that Ben Rice has to go into the tank the way he's gone into the tank. He's for his last 18 Bellinger is 2 for his last 27 Goldschmidt is for his last 12 Do you know what the Yankees did yesterday? They made history, a history that you just don't want to make. They made history scoring 3 runs or fewer in 4 straight games. You know why that's history? They've never done that before in the history of their franchise.
The previous record was 13 runs in 4 games. The Yankees have scored 12 runs in 4 games. And the only reason they scored 3 runs yesterday was Ahmed Rosario came off the bench and pinch hit a home run, a 3 run home run in the 8th inning.
All we've seen from this Yankee team over the last week or so, from a 5 game losing streak, is their inability to hit any starting pitching.
Connolly Early, Peyton Toley, Sheffer, Gray, Casey Mize. Casey Mize yesterday came into the game with a pretty good ERA and under 500 record. And he held them to one hit in 7 innings, struck out 10 and walked none.
Then it was Drew Summers who gave it the two run home run, a three run home run to Rosario. That's the only thing that made it less distressing. But really when push comes to shove, losing 7 to 3, not that great. And the Tigers are not that great. So this little stretch of time over these two weeks, where they're playing the flotsam and the jetsam, that you felt, OK, even though they're a compromised team because of injuries, they should be able to get through with their head above water. And they started it by taking 2 out of 3 in Detroit. The 2 and 3 were tough though. There was a battle. They had 3 home runs off a scubal in order to win that game. Otherwise he was dominant. Then they lose 4 in a row to the Red Sox. So that makes them 2 and 5 Now they lose last night. That makes them 2 and 6 with 5 more games to go. The best they could do over this 13-game stretch is 7 and 6
