And good afternoon, everybody. This is indeed The Michael Kay Show. We thank you for joining us on this Friday, September 18th, 2026 Me and you for two. Those are the rules of engagement. It's the fastest moving two hours in sports talk radio. And the reason it is, is because I have great co-hosts. And that happens to be you. And the membership number is 1-800-919-3776.

That's how you apply for the co-hosting job on the show. We've got so much to do. It's a big football Friday. We'll talk about a big, big game, big weekend for the Yankees here in Arizona. I'm coming to you live from Arizona right now. And we've got a lot to do. Got a big football, two-pack for sure. Now, if you followed us yesterday or last week, 210 You're welcome, 210 And I got two more that you could take to the bank. Don't, but you could if you want.

Two good picks, and that'll be toward the end of the show. 1-800-919-3776. You are watching us right here on the Espn New York YouTube channel, which is made possible by our good friends at the Perisman firm. 710 tonight, the next host of Phillies at City Field. Coverage begins at 630 p.m. right here on 880 Espn. Three more games in the career of the great Howie Rose. Two great, great stories on Howie. Yesterday, one by Mike Vaccaro in the New York Post. Today, a great, great story in the Athletic by Ian O'Connor. And then at 940 p.m., the Yankees are in Arizona to play the Donnebaks. And that should be an important game, because Garrett Cole is going to get the start for the Yankees. We'll find out whether or not Aaron Judge is in the lineup, and whether or not we know anything further about his injury. I'll give you a little insight. Working out today, early in the morning, because it's the West Coast, but I try to stay on the East Coast clock, because that's when the show is.

Working out next to Aaron Boone. And I said, how's Judge? And he said, really don't know.

So I don't know if he was just being coy. He said, I'm not sure.

Didn't say he's great, didn't say there's something wrong with him. Could have said he's great, could have said he's fine. He said, I don't know. So it looks like not only is it day to day, but it might be minute to minute. Might be minute to minute. Now, Sunday at 1 p.m., the Jets host the Packers at MetLife Stadium. And then on Monday Night Football, it's going to be the Giants against the Rams. And can the Giants make it 2-0?

That's the big key. And we shall see.

Tampa Bay won yesterday, 93 and 59 Yankees are 88 and 64 Five games back in the lost column with nine games left to play. So, possible yes, probable no. Boston is six games back in the lost column. Same deal with Boston. Six games back, nine games left to play. I would say that's highly improbable. Although Boston plays Tampa Bay this weekend. And the only way for the Yankees, in my opinion, to have a chance at taking the American League East is if Boston sweeps Tampa Bay in St. Pete and the Yankees sweep the Diamondbacks in Arizona. Then all of a sudden, it becomes a two-game deficit, and they start a four-game series on Tuesday with the doubleheader at Yankee Stadium. I think that's the only way to do it. Two out of three for both of them. I don't even think that works. I don't even think that works. We'll see, but I don't think that works. There's got to be a sweep and a sweep on the other side.

I don't know if you feel differently, and I feel that if they drop out of it this weekend, then you kind of pull the reins back. I don't think Boston can catch you, and if Boston doesn't catch you or can't catch you and you still have those three games in the wild card situation at Yankee Stadium, then you know what? Rejigger your starting rotation, maybe give Cam Schlittler another day off, because Cam Schlittler right now is slated to pitch on Thursday at Yankee Stadium against Tampa Bay. Now if the Yankees beat the Red Sox in the wild card, Tampa Bay's waiting. I don't need Tampa Bay to see Cam Schlittler before they will face him again in the wild card or in the division series.
