It's The Carton Show with Big Mac on a gorgeous Thursday afternoon in New York City. Phone number to join, as always, 888-808-1019.

On a, like I said, beautiful day for Sports Talk.

Chris McMonigle (0:21)

Oh, what a beautiful fall day it is.

Craig Carton (0:23)

You guys, as Jod fans, are in a very interesting predicament right now. First off, good afternoon, Big Mac. How are you today, sir?

Chris McMonigle (0:30)

I'm doing well, Craig. How are you?

Craig Carton (0:32)

Great. So here's the predicament you find yourselves in. You have to now decide, do I want to be a good person, or do I want to be a huge fan? And for this one particular conversation, you can't be both. Here's what I'm saying. As you may have just heard, or if you haven't heard, you're just tuning in, the Philadelphia Eagles announced today that their all-world quarterback, Jalen Hurts, unfortunately, has a blood clot in his calf. And as a result of having that blood clot, and all the dangers that come along with having a blood clot, especially if you play a violent sport, he is out indefinitely now as the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles. Here comes the predicament you people now find yourselves in.

On one side, that is fantastic news for the New York Giants fan.

On the other side, it's a very scary medical situation, and you don't wish that even on the starting quarterback of the hated rival.

Chris McMonigle (1:37)

Of course not.

Craig Carton (1:38)

So, as you sit here today, are you leaning towards, woo-hoo, great news for the Giants, or are you leaning towards, man, I really feel for Jalen Hurts, I'm going to say a prayer for him, and I hope he gets back on the field as soon as possible. Mr. Big Mac, you can only pick A or B.

Chris McMonigle (1:58)

I have to pick A or B.

SPEAKER_3 (2:00)

That's right, that's the way this game works.

Chris McMonigle (2:01)

I can't be a heartless bastard.

Craig Carton (2:02)

No, no, A or B, sir.

Chris McMonigle (2:05)

I'm more concerned with his health, I suppose.

Craig Carton (2:07)

No, no, no, cop out.

Chris McMonigle (2:08)

But I feel like they've got it under control.

Craig Carton (2:10)

Cop out.

Chris McMonigle (2:10)

That's not a cop out.

Craig Carton (2:12)

Cop out.

SPEAKER_3 (2:12)

I just said B.

Craig Carton (2:13)

No, you said I suppose.

SPEAKER_3 (2:15)

That's a cop out right there, you know it.

Chris McMonigle (2:18)

Look, it feels like they got it under control, right? We all want the Eagles to be at their worst.

Craig Carton (2:23)

Of course.

Chris McMonigle (2:23)

We all want that.

SPEAKER_4 (2:24)

You want the easiest road possible?

Chris McMonigle (2:26)

I want the easiest path to a division. I want the Eagles to be a lousy football team, and anything that helps them get to that lousy football team, I suppose.

Craig Carton (2:35)

Anything?

Chris McMonigle (2:37)

Anything.

Craig Carton (2:37)

Okay.

Chris McMonigle (2:38)

I suppose on some level.

Craig Carton (2:39)

That's a fan talking right there.

Chris McMonigle (2:41)

I mean, I hope he's okay. Are you a bad person if you say, I hope that they're very prudent with this, and it takes multiple weeks to find out exactly how to treat it?

Craig Carton (2:53)

Obviously, you don't want him to die.

SPEAKER_3 (2:54)

No, of course. You don't want the bloodhound to travel to his heart and kill him. Yes.

Chris McMonigle (2:58)

I would rather him back on the field this Sunday than pass away.

SPEAKER_3 (3:02)

Yes.

Craig Carton (3:03)

Well, that's fair, but that's not one of the options.

Chris McMonigle (3:04)

No, I get you.

SPEAKER_3 (3:05)

Are you secretly celebrating?

Craig Carton (3:07)

Yes, you are.

Chris McMonigle (3:08)

Are you a bad guy if you hope it's a process that takes weeks to get better?

Craig Carton (3:13)

No.

Chris McMonigle (3:13)

I don't know.

Craig Carton (3:14)

I think you want this to take six to eight weeks.

Chris McMonigle (3:17)

Yeah. I hope they do what's best in his interest, and I hope that's not playing for a while.

Craig Carton (3:21)

Having had a blood clot, and I had Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, one of the immediate attempts at remedying it is Coumadin, a blood thinner.

And there ain't no way they're letting you play tackle football at the NFL level if you're on an aggressive blood thinner, which they used to try to help break up the clot. Now, I'm not claiming to know what his clot is and what the medical recipe is for that.
