So the Yankees had a great weekend. They did exactly what they have to do. They won three out of four games. Yesterday was a massive, massive game for both teams because it was the tiebreaker for the season series. It was game number 13 They had split the first 12 And this was so big. Because when you look at the standings right now, you see the Yankees are ahead of the Red Sox by four games. But they're not. They're ahead by five games because they won 16 to one yesterday. Because they have the tiebreaker. The Red Sox don't have to make up four games. They have to make up five games in order to overtake the Yankees and have that wild card series, which looks like it's on a collision course, actually happen at Fenway Park. So they have 25 games remaining, none of them with the Yankees, and they are five games behind the Yankees. They have to make up five games in the loss column. So the Yankees did everything that they had to do. They won the game one nothing on Friday. They lost the first game six nothing on Saturday. They won the second game nine two on Saturday. And they won yesterday 16 to one. Now, as I was getting ready to do this show, certainly listening to Chris Carlin, who follows, who proceeds the show and happens to be a very, very good friend. And he had a very strong opinion that Jazz Chisholm was wrong. And if you listen to the clips of the Red Sox announcers, they obviously thought that Jazz Chisholm was wrong after walking in the 8th inning and the Yankees up 7 to 1, that he stole 2nd and he stole 3rd. Now, before I was privy to the information, which I will give to you in just a moment, I didn't think there was anything wrong with what Jazz Chisholm did simply because of the score. 7 to 1, 7 to 1 is not insurmountable. And please don't give me the silly nonsense, which we at Espn use a lot. And I guess some people like it for betting or whatever, or percentage to come back. I don't care if the percentage is a half a percent. It's still a percent. So I didn't think Jazz did anything wrong. I didn't think he did, but I could understand those that were wired to say that it was terrible what he did, it was a bad look, he should have gotten drilled. And listen, I am not going to sit here and rip the Red Sox announcers. People do games the way they want to do games. I also happen to be really good friends with Will Fleming. And I'm kind of surprised that Will went that route. But again, he's a really good broadcaster. I really respect Will Millibrooks and I really respect Lou Marlone as well. So I heard everything they said. Chris played all of the cuts on his show.
But then I said, listen, I have an opinion. Chris has an opinion. Everybody has an opinion.
Let me call up Aaron Boone right now. I made this phone call about 20 minutes ago. So I said to Aaron, I said, what's the deal with what happened? And he told me, and after he told me, I said, can I use this on the air? And he said, you most certainly can use it on the air. Amazingly enough, nobody asked him after the game about it. None of the cameras on Nesson or Yes picked this up. But this is from the horse's mouth. Jazz walks to start the eighth inning. As he's running down to first base, Boone says, you're shut down. Don't steal. Jazz nods. So Boone has shut Jazz down. Jazz knows he's not allowed to steal. Now Boone sees that the Red Sox are playing behind him.
