It's The Carton Show with Big Mac on a gorgeous Wednesday afternoon in New York City. Phone number to join as always, 888-808-1019.

Got a great show for you today as we move closer and closer to week six of the NFL. Giants underdog, Jets underdog, injured players coming back. But that's not the start of today's show, my friends. No, it's not. It has been one week now.

One arduous, difficult week for diehard Yankee fans to get over another embarrassing postseason performance getting swept by the Rays. And in that week, we have not heard a word from Hal Steinbrenner. No. We have not heard a word from Brian Cashman. We have not heard a word from Aaron Boone. We have not heard a word from Aaron Judge.

New York Yankee fans deserve and are owed a word from Aaron Judge, from Brian Cashman, from Aaron Boone, and of course the owner of the New York Yankees, Mr. Havator Steinbrenner. And I'm going to do your bidding for you, Big Mac. Okay.

You're a die-hard fan. You spend your money on the product, your entire life from April 1st essentially, through a typically early exit in the playoffs, centers around Yankee baseball. You deserve a word. And I got your back, Big Mac. Yeah. When will the Yankees come out of hiding? When will they acknowledge whose fault it is? When will we find out what everyone wants to talk about, but no one's going to put a finger on it? Who is to blame for the same crap every single season? And then we'll get to all the football. Good afternoon, Big Mac. How are you today?

Chris McMonigle (2:08)

I'm doing well. Yeah. Look, I don't think there's any rush on this. I told you yesterday that eight days was last year.

That would be Thursday, so tomorrow would be eight days from when they lost the final game of the season until when they spoke. I, right now, I think, and you know, they were speculating, Evan, and there's some speculation that until Brian Cashman's contract is settled, that he's not going to speak.

Like, right now, he's not under contract, right? His contract expires. He's, you know, a free agent, if you will. And I think we all expect him back. But until that's signed, I don't know. And more than that, like, honestly, I don't know what we're going to learn. I don't think they have any more answers than the rest of us do. We all know Brian Cashman's coming back.

Craig Carton (2:49)

But everyone's talking about something. No one says what it is.

Chris McMonigle (2:51)

No, they need to...

Craig Carton (2:52)

Every former player in the last three or four days, we talked about it a little bit yesterday, whether that's CC, whether that's whomever, doesn't matter what it is, right? Every single player that has a micro, former player, that has a microphone put in front of their faces are all alluding to something. They're all talking about how we've lost the Yankee way, same old, same old, definition of insanity. But none of them, not a single one, has had the backbone of the balls to say, I'm going to tell you exactly what the problem is, or, or who the problem is. They're all pussyfooting around, oh, the Yankees aren't the same as what I play there, the Yankees are this, the Yankees are that. They all know the answer. They're friends with guys that are still in that clubhouse, they're connected to the organization in some way, shape or form. So what's pissing me off is everyone's a tough guy. Everyone's talking around the issue of the Yankees aren't this, the Yankees aren't that. It's one simple question everybody has.

Who is to blame for it?

But no one's got the balls to say it. I can't figure out why.

Chris McMonigle (4:04)

Well, what do you think they're hiding? Like, I don't think there, I don't think there is a clear-cut answer. That's my point.

Craig Carton (4:09)

Here's what they're hiding.

They're hiding the fact that they know the answer, but if they reveal the answer, they're afraid they're going to get cut off by the Yankees. Access, gone.

Financial opportunities, gone. Appearances, gone. Sluggery suites, gone. First pitches, gone. And the Yankees, for a lot of former players, are the Golden Goose. So we can talk in generalities, but I want to know, is it Cashman, is it Boone, is it judges lack of leadership, it's something.

Chris McMonigle (4:44)

I think it's all of those things. I don't think you can exclude any of those or put any more emphasis on any of them. I think it's every one of those things. And why I want to know, and I hear you, the noise has gotten louder than ever. There is no doubt something feels different after this postseason. I don't know if it's, you know, the going to the World Series in 24 bought them a year.
