Hour 1: Big Mac Questions Gerrit Cole’s Late-Inning Durability

That's right, back to school, back to school. Nothing's changed for me. Prove to my dad that I'm not a fool.

Billy Madison. Every time I say back to school, that's what comes to mind. Of course.
We'll have a little fun with that too later in the show. I want to talk about how I'm still a child, even though I put children on the bus. But we'll get to the football as well. Joe Shane spoke for the New York Giants. What's the expectations for Joe Shane and the New York Giants? I think we're going to have a long conversation about the backup quarterback for the New York Jets and their head coach and his standing inside the organization. But we will start with last night's Yankee game. They bounced back after what was a debacle out in Anaheim against the Angels who just got sold. I think we should have a bigger conversation about that as well as we found out the number of $4 billion and Gerrit Cole had something to say about it. But the New York Yankees do bounce back. They have a convincing win against the Angels and we saw some good, we saw some bad, we saw some different things. But first, let's just say hello, Anthony Gallo. Fill it in today, how are we doing?

It's nice to sit in here, right?

I didn't realize the dumplings don't come with the in-studio appearance.

Just an enormous peach.

You brought in a peach in a Ziploc bag. First, you had to use the full size Ziploc bag to fit that peach in there.

**Anthony Gallo** (1:45)
To be fair, it's the only Ziploc bag we have.

**Craig Carton** (1:47)
That is the most enormous peach I've ever seen. It's like Kramer in that Seinfeld episode, the Mackinaw peaches that are only in season a couple of months a year. You don't get the reference?

What's wrong with you? What's wrong with you?

No, but it's the best peach you'll ever have. I had one the other day in Hoffmade for me because I made a mess in the control room because it's just a giant peach.

It's an enormous peach.

Yes.

I've never seen anything like it.

And it's delicious. I'm going to cut it up. I'll let you guys have some.

I've built a relationship with the woman at the farmer's market.

Sometimes big fruit like that ends up not being that flavorful.

I feel like it's just a big peach that's going to be bland. You got one big bland peach there.

No, it's not. Well, they're not always this big, but she had big ones this week. So I grabbed them. She did.
Your fruit lady? Yes. My farmer's market lady. It's created a rift in my household. Saturday's mornings are for me and the farmer's market lady. Peaches, tomatoes, they make a jam. I get very excited.

You being a kid, I've aged since moving into my apartment 30 years.

I'm still a child. We'll get to that later. But let's talk about the New York Yankees as they bounce back. And a couple of things, good and bad, that I saw. First, let's talk with the one thing. I'll start negative. Why not? Big Mac.

I'm a big negative Yankee guy.

Here's the one thing I'll say. As the Yankees did bounce back last night and you had Gerrit Cole on the mound, my one concern about Gerrit Cole, and really it leads into the entire conversation about the bullpen and how important it is. If you look at this starting rotation, which without question, we'll get into the offense and we'll get into Spencer Jones. I know everybody wants to talk about Spencer Jones. I had a thought yesterday and I'm already waffling on it. I kind of waffled on it yesterday while I gave the take. He is emerging and making his presence known with back-to-back home runs. But here's my thought on Gerrit Cole and the Yankee pitching staff, which without question, hopefully judge is coming back, maybe Spencer Jones is coming into his own. I even want to talk about jazz because I think we're seeing better swings from jazz over the last few weeks than we have seen all year, all trending in the right direction despite being an offense that's certainly up and down still without their captain.
