College football is back, so Hilton called on me, the superstition concierge, to make your fan rituals a reality. Need a room to match your lucky number? We got you. Wanna make sure our team doesn't wash your lucky jersey? Oh, that smells lucky.

Hilton's unmatched hospitality can keep up with any superstition. Even a marching band wake up call at 555 in 55 seconds. Hit it! When you need a team that will do whatever it takes on game day, it matters where you stay. Hilton, for the stay.

For decades, a shadowy organization called the Lemonati has kept lemon on top and lime in the shadows. Look around, lemon forward sodas, even lemon forward songs. We ran the tracks, slowed them down, reversed them and squeezed out the truth.

That's lemon propaganda right there. But now 7UP is fighting back with their new lime lemon soda. Join the 7UPrising. Flip the Sip.

Josh (1:10)

GLHF, fellow gamers, and welcome to the VGP.

Gaming lingo and terms have been around for decades, but what do some of them mean? Well on today's episode, we're breaking down some of the most common gaming acronyms and terms and giving you insight you need to be up to date on all the lingo. So don't go AFK and lock in because this episode is going to be awesome. But first, some introductions are in order. I am your host Josh, and joining me, he may not be the best DPS, but his tank play can be clutch. It's Ryan.

Ryan (1:55)

What's up with all these random shots at me all the time?

Josh (1:59)

These DPS shots.

Ryan (2:01)

I'm a good DPSer player.

Josh (2:04)

I said your tank play can be clutch, Ryan. Do you not know what clutch means? Maybe you don't. That's what this episode is about.

SPEAKER_1 (2:10)

We'll find out today.

Josh (2:15)

I like how I give Ryan a compliment, and then he's like, all right, see? This is why we did this episode.

Ryan (2:19)

That was a backhanded compliment.

Josh (2:21)

No, it wasn't.

Ryan (2:22)

Yeah, whatever.

Josh (2:24)

Okay, it literally says he may not be the best DPS. Are you arguing that you are the best DPS?

Ryan (2:31)

No.

Ace (2:32)

Okay, well, there we go.

Josh (2:33)

See? So then the other half was a compliment that you decided to just completely ignore.

Ryan (2:39)

And joining us also, Josh, also maybe not the best DPS. Very true.

Josh (2:46)

Very true, especially lately. Getting better at support though, man.

SPEAKER_1 (2:49)

But we love him anyways.

Ryan (2:51)

Yeah.

Josh (2:54)

And joining us, he never has to ADS when he plays support, but I do know he gets tilted whenever he gets wrecked by the enemy team. It's Ace.

Ace (3:06)

What are these strange words you're saying to me?

Josh (3:09)

I don't know, Ace.

Ace (3:10)

Quickly, someone get a millennial in here. I need a ciphering.

Josh (3:14)

I had to look all these up on that, what do they call that? The Google?

Ryan (3:19)

The Google engine?

Josh (3:20)

Yeah, the Google machine?

Ace (3:22)

The Wikipedia?

Josh (3:25)

Well, welcome in, everybody. There's some people that are going to be like, we know all these terms. You, apparently, we thought everybody knew these terms, too, until we started talking about, hey, what game are we playing? Where we were like, hey, watch the ads. Somebody go get the ads. And somebody was like, what does that mean?

SPEAKER_1 (3:43)

I forget what it was. And then we were like, we were playing Night Reign. You guys said, get the ads.

Ace (3:47)

And I said, what the heck are ads?

SPEAKER_1 (3:49)

Yeah, it was you. Yeah, it was Ace.

Josh (3:52)

Oh my goodness, that's right.

Ace (3:54)

I said, what the heck are ads? And you guys were like, you know.

Ryan (3:56)

That blows my mind.

SPEAKER_1 (3:58)

That still blows my mind.

Ace (3:59)

And I was like, summons?

SPEAKER_1 (4:01)

Additional combatants, bro.

Ryan (4:04)

Yeah, that's right.

Josh (4:05)

See, Ryan does. So we thought it would be fun to do an episode where we kind of break down some of the gaming lingo, some of the acronyms. We actually have a little bit of like history of where they came from and stuff like that as well. Here's a shocker, guys. Almost every gaming term originated in the nineties.

Like legitimately, like almost all of these originated in the nineties. So it's like, it's funny. But yeah, this will be a fun episode. Even if you know or you think you know all the gaming terms, this will be a fun one for you. Stick around with us. You might just learn something. And even if you don't learn anything, you're going to have a good time anyway. So before we get to that though, guys, this might be a record with how many episodes in a row that we have had to thank people. And I am here for this. This, let's, let's, let's keep this going. Let's make sure that we don't have an episode where we're like, well, we don't have anybody to thank this time. No one to thank today. Yeah. But we do have two awesome new supporters of the show to thank. So a huge shout out to Tom Mitchell for signing up for Rare Status, one of the rare people in the world that has two first names as their name.
