But the fact that rates have come back up means that we're likely to see some more disinflationary pressure, deflation in some things, disinflation in others, and ultimately that will be helpful. So the people that haven't yet got into a bunch of debt and have been waiting, trying to build savings, this is huge help because the fact is now not just on the deposit yield side, but also on the equity side, the dividend yields should be coming up significantly in this environment. So there's a lot of upside there and also for those waiting to buy a home.

Adam Taggart (1:46)

Welcome to Thoughtful Money. I'm Thoughtful Money founder and host Adam Taggart, welcoming you here to a return discussion on the channel with Danielle Park from up in Canada. Danielle is now portfolio manager at Arran Croft Financial Group, Inc. She's had a lot of big life changes and all such a great way since we last talked to her. Danielle, thanks so much for joining us here.

Danielle Park (2:08)

Thank you, Adam. Goodness, it's been almost a year. Well, I guess it'll be a year in December. Time flies when you're having fun, eh?

Adam Taggart (2:17)

Yeah. And it's not for lack of trying to get you on the program. You just had a lot of really big things going on in your life. You just sold a business that you built to be a huge success.

You took a little bit of time off this summer, which I think we're all envious of, and you've started a new role at a great new company. So I'm glad you're able to make time in the middle of all that to finally come back on the channel.

Danielle Park (2:39)

Well, thank you very much.

Adam Taggart (2:41)

All right. And again, it's also not for shortage of people asking, hey, where's Danielle Park? Can you get her on soon here? So you're going to be making a lot of people happy here today. And Danielle, normally I'd sort of set things up and we'd set the stage and talk about sort of things at a high level before we drill into the specifics.

But you have created about a 50-slide deck here for us to walk through. So it might just be easiest for me just to just let you run on that.

Danielle Park (3:08)

Sure. I mean, I like the discipline of revisiting everything, checking on what we talked on last time and updating to see what things have changed in which ways and so that's why I did that. But yeah, I'm happy to go through it.

Adam Taggart (3:21)

Yeah, and I think generally, and I haven't even gone through all the slides yet myself, you flagged a lot of things that I think are still flags right now. The markets are still at all time highs as we're talking about here, the real estate market here in the US while it's frozen and has a lot of problems is still pretty much at record high prices.

It seems like some of the shoes that you were concerned about dropping last time have yet to drop, but I'm going to guess you're still just as concerned, maybe even if not more, about those same very shoes.

Danielle Park (3:57)

Well, it's interesting. I actually feel really quite encouraged by everything that's been happening in the past few months.

Mike Preston (4:03)

Oh, that's wonderful to hear.

Danielle Park (4:05)

Yeah. I'm a person who dislikes easy money policies because I know from experience that all easy money does is grow debt, and it's grown debt in epic proportions since they started after the GFC. And so, I was really concerned with all of the crazy behaviors that that spurred and the lack of discipline, and the speculation phase, and now we've got the discipline of actual rates back in the system, and it makes an honest person of so many when the interest rate pendulum swings back. So, that has been a massive impact on so many things.
