Hermes Desktop just got 500 free plugins, and they turn your Hermes agent into whatever you want it to be. In this video, I'm going to show you how to upgrade your Hermes desktop in one single click. So if you want your Hermes to talk to you like Jarvis, there's a plugin for that. If you want it to find you a job, you can pull in the latest news or even run it on a phone and your laptop at the same time. You can do all of that in one click, all for free. So by the end of this video, your Hermes desktop is going to feel like a brand new machine built exactly for you. Stick around, because there's one thing you absolutely have to check before you install.
If you skip it, that is a big problem. I'll show you later in this video. Let's get into it.
So there's a bunch of new free desktop plugins that you can use inside Hermes desktop. So basically modify it and change it exactly how you want to. I'll show you a bunch of examples right here. So you can switch between all the different plugins that we have. So some people, for example, have problems with memory inside Claude. And any of these plugins, which are from Hermes official website, you can see, number one, the ratings for each one and how many stars they have.
Number two, when they were last updated, what version they're on. And then you can switch between all these different categories. So you can switch between all the different categories of plugins, change and swap them. And then anytime you want to actually quickly open one, you can just click on Open in Hermes Desktop, as you can see right here.
So let's say, for example, you wanted to add like the latest news, you could use Hermes Newswire. We can click on Open in Hermes Desktop.
Then we click on Open in Hermes, and you can see right here, it quickly gives you the option to install it. You can decide whether you want to add it to desktop UI, agent plugin, etc. The GitHub repository. I would also recommend that you do check the repository before you actually use it, just to make sure you're happy with it, make sure it doesn't do anything that you don't want it to do, etc. Sometimes you don't know if it's an open source project created by anyone. You have to be careful there. Just want to be 100% honest, but that's how easy it is to set up. And then we can click Install, and that will just quickly install it directly into Hermes' desktop for us, which makes creating this stuff almost effortless to set these up. When I was first using them, it was a lot of work. Now you can easily set them up, and you can also see here that we can choose which profiles available in, and then we can click on here. So if you want to do an okay, where did that go? How did you view it? So if we click on Newswire over here, we can see that we can add new sources and quickly set this up.
So if we take a look, for example, we can now switch this plugin on or off. We can open up, and then also we can see that we can see the latest sources. We can add a new topic here. So I can type in, for example, AR automation or Hermes agent. That might be better. Then we'll click on Search, and we can actually search for release notes on Hermes agent. We've plugged that in. We can delete it anytime. We can add multiple sources, and then you can see that we've got all of the latest news and updates on Hermes agent. And I'll actually scroll at the bottom too. It's quite nice. So then if we go to a new chat here, you can see that it actually has the news at the bottom, and we can resize that anytime. So if we go back here, we can also change the settings. So we can switch this on and off. We can make it fast or slow, pause it, etc.
But that is 10 times easier than setting up plugins with Hermes agent normally, which is like going through the terminal, and then mess around clicking buttons, and then waiting for all this to work, and then spending about three hours on GitHub on a skill that doesn't even work. With this, you can quickly test it, and also with the ratings inside Hermes plugins here, you can easily switch between them as well.
Now, the one thing that I will say is that you don't need all of these set up, so I would just pick the ones that you want. So I'll give you another example that could be super useful. We've got Hermes tail scale over here. So we can actually connect multiple devices for free to Hermes desktop and control it with tail scale, which is really useful. I've used tail scale before for our agentic OS, and it's really easy to just click through them and set up. Now, if you also click on the official plugin here, you can get more information on it. So you can see, for example, the read me, what it does, what it's powered by, where it works, the small decisions it makes, etc.
