That's right, Darlings, we are back with Here Comes the News! as its own thing because we kinda needed it out of the main episodes, it's been getting a bit much. In this episode we talk about discount flights gone wrong, furry hackers, and salmon sex.

Speakers Mika, Stevie

Hello, hello, darlings. We haven't done one of these in a while. Bit of change, so my computer crashed and all that. But welcome to Here Comes the News. I am your host, Mika. My co-host Stevie was unfortunately unable to make it today.

He was captured by a dastardly fiend with a mustache tied to a railroad track.

But last I heard, his boyfriend is going over to go ahead and rescue Stevie. So I think we should be relatively okay there. I'm back. Oh, shit.

Stevie (0:41)

I got better.

Yeah, he just dropped me off. We got an Uber. Not sponsored.

Mika (0:50)

Okay. Um, shit, in that case. Uh, welcome to Here Comes the News. I'm your host, Mika, with my co-host, Stevie Bombastis.

Hi.

Stevie (1:04)

I'm not going to adopt that name. I think I'm good on the pseudonym, but I appreciate it. Although after the harrowing adventure, I just had pretty bombastic, I would say.

Mika (1:12)

I'd say so too. But before we go with any further adieu, Stevie, guess what time it is?

Stevie (1:25)

What?

Mika (1:33)

That's right.

Stevie (1:34)

I gotta cut the background music.

Mika (1:35)

That is, that is time for Here Comes the News.

Stevie (1:40)

It's true. It's true. Yay!

Mika (1:42)

Hey, now that you're here, I get to fuck with you. Because Stevie.

Stevie (1:48)

Yeah.

Mika (1:48)

I'm sure that you may have noticed, possibly.

I know our audience has noticed. I haven't done. Here Comes the News in months.

Stevie (2:00)

Yeah, it's because it sucks. Not the seggy, not the mini pod, not the mini pod, the everything else. Wanted to go ahead and clarify.

Mika (2:11)

Everything else is sucking so bad, we have had to quarantine the news from the main podcast. Really?

Stevie (2:18)

You know what? You're getting your stink, your news stink, your current events stink, all over the rest of my cool podcast. So you know what? You go in your own podcast corner.

So we go to the other side of the property.

Mika (2:33)

We've got it in its own little caged in area.

Stevie (2:36)

Yeah, and still very humane.

Mika (2:39)

Very humane. We've got signs that say, do not feed the news.

But unfortunately, no one listens and they keep feeding it. That's why there's more of it.

Stevie (2:48)

I keep getting complaints about like biting kids and stuff. And it's like, we told you it wasn't a petting zoo. We just can't afford more slats for the fence yet.

Mika (2:57)

Look, everyone knows where you see one news headline, much like cockroaches, there's probably a hundred.

Stevie (3:05)

There's a hundred of them, and they all look the same.

Mika (3:09)

I'm not sure if that's offensive or not seeing all the headlines look alike.

Stevie (3:13)

It literally feels the same. It's literally a commentary on how all the modern media is owned by the same group of elites. Come on, Mika, get with it.

The headlines do all look the same. They're all saying like everything the exact same fucking way.

Mika (3:31)

Because our-

Stevie (3:31)

Your tone tells me something else.

Mika (3:33)

Because our first headline-

Stevie (3:35)

Okay, hit me.

Mika (3:36)

Isn't a headline.

There's someone I follow on Blue Sky, who is a journalist, who has been tracking AI rollouts of data centers. Okay. For a long time, and just did an article about it.

Stevie (3:55)

Okay.

Mika (3:55)

And then just yesterday, Bloomberg confirmed his reporting that Microsoft only has two gigawatts of operational capacity, which is nothing compared to the amount of hardware and shit they've been selling to data centers.

Stevie (4:24)

That's not, huh, okay, so are the data centers just not getting built?

Mika (4:30)

So, Nvidia has sold about $535 billion worth of GPUs and associated gear, mostly GPUs, to various data center-

Stevie (4:47)

Builders, manufacturers.

Mika (4:48)

Builders, manufacturers, since the beginning of 2023

Stevie (4:53)

Okay.

Are they not building them? Are you eating them?

Mika (5:00)

I'm sorry.

Stevie (5:02)

What?

Mika (5:02)

Since the beginning of fiscal year 2023, which started in February of 2022

Stevie (5:13)

Right, okay.

Mika (5:14)

I won't pretend to understand that. But anyway, Microsoft only has two gigawatts or so.

So, where are the GPUs? Where is that tasty, tasty RAM? Where is all that stuff that you said you would no longer sell to consumers?

Stevie (5:34)

What are you feeding them to?

Mika (5:37)

Do you just have warehouses?

Stevie (5:39)

Who's eating RAM for breakfast?

Mika (5:42)

Are you trying to pull a De Beers maneuver, like they did with diamonds? Where they stockpiled them to make them more rare and cost more, but you're doing it with fucking computer hardware?
