I was just doing a Tweet House. It's The Bill Simmons Podcast. We're live on Netflix. Very good sports night. Joe House is here. You can also listen to him on Ringer Wise Guys and Fairway Rollin.
I have a new rewatchable coming on Monday House. We're doing Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Joe House (1:51)
Wow. The OG from the 70s?
Bill Simmons (1:53)
The OG from 1974 It's on every streaming service right now, including Netflix. So CR and I are going to break all of it down. Very fun movie to research all that stuff.
So we had a pivotal best of three baseball game, which we're not going to talk about. We have-
Joe House (2:11)
Well, it was over in one inning, so it's fine.
Bill Simmons (2:13)
Yeah, it was over in one inning. Philly shut the world with their pitching. We have Fever Aces, which we will talk about a little bit. And then we had an incredible, for a Thursday night, Browns Steelers game. The Browns win in the end, 56 yard field goal. They almost blow it. They kicked the ball right at the end zone. They learned nothing from the Cowboys four days ago.
But then Rogers throws a pick. That's it. The Browns are three and one and looked really competent. And they were underdogs in this game. I stayed away. If we had done Ringer 107 and include the Thursday night, I would have thought about them because I didn't think they should be underdogs. But I was impressed. I don't think it's like going to be a one seed or a two seed, but I do think they have a chance to make the playoffs.
Joe House (2:57)
Yeah, I feel kind of bad. I'll confess. I have two apologies. One to you.
But the first one I want to say is-
Bill Simmons (3:06)
Why are you apologizing to me?
Joe House (3:07)
Because you and I had a conversation about the Browns and you were like-
Bill Simmons (3:11)
You soured me on them. I was going to-
Joe House (3:13)
I'm not sure that I really wanted to, and yeah, I tried to talk you out of it, but I also owe-
Bill Simmons (3:19)
Because their over was five and a half.
Joe House (3:21)
Yeah. Yeah, I know.
I owe Anthony Jeselnik an apology because on this program last week, you made mention of Anthony and his new podcast on the Rigger Podcast Network.
Bill Simmons (3:36)
Jeselnik Book Club.
Joe House (3:37)
Yeah, and you tried to get some enthusiasm out of me in support of this.
I had been on a business trip. I was unaware of the arrival of the Jeselnik Book Club. I was barely aware that you had interviewed him last week, and I thought it was a bit. I thought you were setting me up for something. So I was kind of dismissive.
I'm a big fan. I'm a fan of Jeselnik. I'm a fan of the book club. I'm a fan of the pod. So apologies to AJ.
Bill Simmons (4:06)
So you want to be invited to the AJ BookPod now.
Bill Simmons' dad (4:10)
That was your official resume.
Bill Simmons (4:12)
No, I think, listen, you're eligible. People go on the pod.
Joe House (4:16)
I mean, I volunteer for every Ringer pod. So that goes without saying.
Bill Simmons (4:19)
What do we do with this Deshaun Watson resurgence? Because this is now two and a half games in a row that he's a little competent.
And it started with that Tampa game that cost both of us money. We're in the second half over and over again, he was just completing passes and doing things. Today, there were moments when he was moving around like Houston Deshaun.
