All right, there's this amazing book called Getting Everything You Can Out Of All You've Got. I read it a few years ago and it changed my life.
And the reason I loved it was because it basically talks about how to get and make more money using things that you already have.

I didn't know who Donald Miller was up until recently, but over the last 12 months, this is totally by coincidence. It was all separate people. They said, you have to check out Donald Miller. Netflix was like, where do you want to do the special? LA, Chicago, New York? I was like, nah, son, Davis, California.
What's a day for you like? Cause you're completely free now, right?

I'm completely free. Well, you're never really free. You build a prison of your own making now.
So, two little kids, so day starts with morning shift, dad duty. So I take the mornings, I got a two year old and an eight month old. And so-

We're the same.

**Shaan Puri** (1:46)
Yeah, when you were talking about it yesterday, I was like, I feel ya.
And we, so I do the morning shift, that's just straight dad time. Then I basically pick between, I got three kind of major projects.
So I got investing, so sometimes we'll be looking at deals. Then it's, could be content, but content is really kind of on a specific niche schedule. It's like Monday, Wednesday for an hour, we sit down, we do the show, and that's kind of it. I don't do too much more than that. I write sometimes, like Twitter or emails or whatever. And then I have a business. So me and my wife started an e-commerce business.

Oh, cool.

**Shaan Puri** (2:22)
And so that's scaled up. So basically in the last year, that went from zero, like just an idea, to now we do like over a million dollars a month of revenue on that business. I was looking for something new that I could do as a side hustle. Something that wasn't like gonna take up all my time, but could still be a valuable business that was, you know, like some part time basically.

Yeah.

**Shaan Puri** (2:43)
And so that's what.

Have you always been like that? Multiple hustles. Have you always been that guy?

**Shaan Puri** (2:48)
I was always that guy, but they weren't working before. So I was. Really? I was trying to do that and I was failing at it. And.

**Hasan Minhaj** (2:55)
Like since high school? Like you were that dude?

**Shaan Puri** (2:56)
So no, so a lot of people have this story. A lot of entrepreneurs have this like, oh, back in, I was my lemonade stand. I was selling, I was doing newspaper routes and I hired all these kids.

**Hasan Minhaj** (3:04)
Yeah, baseball cars.

**Shaan Puri** (3:05)
I was, dude, the lights were off in my head until like 21 So like, I was like, I'm gonna be pre-med. I was gonna be, I wanted to be a team doctor for an NBA team. So I was like, okay, what do I do to, I wanted to be on the NBA team. All right, genetics not working.
Team doctor. That seems like the blend of my genetics and like my interests.
And only when I met a team doctor, I was like, wow, this is boring as shit. Like, you're just like, you know, these are just joints that are in pain and it's only so much you could do. I was like, wow, this is not as exciting. I need a plan B. So I was 21 when I figured that out.

Wow, you were still in undergrad.
