So, Grant, I... You got a gate now. Was that an issue with security here in California? The jumpers or did you always have that and I just forgot?

Adam Carolla (1:59)

I think we changed the gate out here. Security's always got to be in the back of your head in California. But I got to say, this is a pretty nice neighborhood, I will say.

I will say that about this. Now, I know California and politics and all that's near and dear to your heart. I also know all the fire stuff is a big deal. Grant survived in Malibu. I survived in Malibu, but most cannot say as much. And Grant has a big and beautiful home that just miraculously made it through the fire. But they still gutted the inside. And that's for fire damage, pollution, whatever.

Yeah, there was a bunch of smoke damage.

Grant Cardone (2:42)

Literally 16 homes burnt to the ground. And then the fire got to me, to our house. We were in Miami on our way out here, and my wife comes against me at 6 o'clock in the morning, says, wake up, wake up, the house is burning down in Malibu. I'm like, what the fuck am I supposed to do about it?

We're 3,000 miles away, I can't do anything about it. So it's either going to go or not. I said, I don't think it's going to burn to the ground. And she's like, why not? And I said, because one, I'm blessed.

And two, it's built of concrete. Everything that's going to burn is going to burn because it's old 75-year-old timber. I've been saying this for years up and down that coast. Let people rebuild. Encourage them to rebuild. Incentivize to go glass, steel, and concrete, and you won't have a fire problem.

Adam Carolla (3:28)

Every single structure in front of you is gone, and then it stops at your house.

Grant Cardone (3:39)

West of me on that beach is facing south, not west. West of me, the next house that doesn't burn is concrete. And mine is concrete.

Adam Carolla (3:51)

How many lots over is the next?

16 lots. So 16 structures burned.

Grant Cardone (3:56)

And the fire department wasn't like doing me some favor. I'm friends with those guys and...

So the one you were looking at on your Instagram the other day, that's being rebuilt now. I had rented that house and it burnt. It's made of... Look, you have timber.

Adam Carolla (4:17)

Yeah.

You have two by fours sitting in the sun every day for 75 years.
