GPT Live 1 Is a Game Changer For AI

Hey, what's going on, everybody? Welcome to The Daily AI Show Live. Today is July 9th, 2026 And with me today are Andy, Beth, Gareth, Brian. Happy to see everybody out there. Thanks everybody jumping into the comments. Jeff, good to see you out there. Sons out, guns out, Jeff says. I love it. Yeah, I'm sure it's like this in a lot of places, and surely Europe has been going through it for sure. I have AC, so I can't complain too much, but it is very hot in Tampa for the next 10, 12 days or something.
It's I think 95, 96, which is I would say is hot, right? I mean, usually it's like maybe lower 90s or so. So hopefully everybody out there is staying cool or at the very least has air conditioning and can stay cool if it's hot out there.
And this is probably a great transition into all the kind of crazy news. Now I was out yesterday, so I don't know if you guys covered any of this because depending on when it came out. But yes, I know there's other big news about models coming out and stuff like that and Grok and everything else. But I'll tell you the one that has been the biggest like, holy, you know what? This is better is GPT Live One. Holy moly. Is it better? Have you guys played with it?

I mean, I haven't had a chance. It's a demo yesterday, but it now looks pretty cool.

Oh my God. I got to say, man, it's like I don't know what the, you know, the Jasper experience is like for you and this stuff like that. It is very natural. Now, I don't have somebody in my house that I can speak another language to. I don't know if anybody in our show comments, if anybody in our comments is listening out there and speaks another language, let us know because it would be cool to test and try out the language feature of it or the translation rather feature of it live on the show. Should somebody speak French or Spanish or something like that, that'd be cool to know.
Does anybody else here? I don't think anybody else here speaks another language, right? Gareth, I don't think I ever asked you, but do you?

That's about where I am. I think my wife could actually.

I think more understands Spanish than I can speak it. Yeah. I think it's primarily Hispanic city. It's like about 65 percent Hispanic.

Mic is so it's so sensitive that she moves at three inches. She disappears. So I wasn't sure if you had like a super cool mic like that.

I do.
But it's like farther away. I can just get up while you're doing that.

Just as you play with it, one-on-one passes the Turing test for me. Yeah, Jeff, I mean, obviously we can play with it live on the show as well, and I can just hold it up to the mic. We've done that before. But that's exactly right. The back and forth conversation, the natural feel of it.
I had forgotten I hadn't used my GPT on the app voice mode for quite some time, but I have it turned on. It's a female Australian voice, which I always feel like Australian voices just feel like they're going to give me the information in a smarter, more fun way. So that's why I have it on another accent.

My mom would be happy with that thought. My mom, because my mom, my family is Australian.

So I love a good Australian accent.
And so what I will tell you is it has, it does very good. In fact, one of their demos that they show, it's had these three older ladies that are like in their 60s, 70s demoing, which I thought was, it's just a brilliant little commercial of them doing it. But the one lady demonstrates one of the biggest things is she interrupts three times. All three of the interruptions require live search to be going on and it never skips a beat. She's able to go like, well, what about the weather? Okay, go back and tell me about the, did you verify those dates for me? She does a really good job in her little demo of, I'm sure it's scripted, but she does a good job of cutting off, asking for more information that then requires more research to be happening. And it really doesn't miss a beat. I had a whole conversation this morning about the city of Amsterdam and visiting it, potentially next year with my family. And I was able to just easily, easily have a conversation about the EuroStar, the train flying into other cities. What a 15 year old might like to do in a city like Amsterdam, where I might travel outside. We just had this amazing, easy conversation the whole way. I'm really, really impressed. I admit I don't use all the other voice models enough to know how comparable this is, but this is the best of anything I've ever used on a voice interaction back and forth. So as you can imagine, I'm very excited about it. So Jeff said he's used it a little, anybody else used it? I don't think so, right?
