Just ask yourselves, how was it kept a secret from the slaves in Texas for two and a half years? How did they not find out? And it's because the media consumption of the enslaved population was controlled by these existing establishment. That was, they were only told what the masters told them.
And as a result, you just get a view into what the sort of perverse mentality of citizens who are white supremacists can maintain and what abuse they can perpetuate on people despite the illegality of it. Anyway, it's happening today.

Well, I think just having glanced through the news this morning, there's three important announcements. And I'll just cite them sort of as the header on this segment of the show. And one is that GPT 5.6 is coming out. It's probably next week, not today. It'll be next week and it's going to be available in the mini and pro variants. It's going to have a larger 1.5 million context window. And it has improved long-horizon coding because that's where the competition really is right now is between Codex and Cloud Code, for example, and ultimately with Cursor. Once they get their new platform out, that's part of SpaceX now.
And it's going to be priced below Anthropic Cloud Code.
So we'll see how that all works out.

You mean API, right?

At the API level.

Because they're pro and Cloud's Macs are identical. 100, 45x.

If you're going to use the model 5.6, it's going to be cheaper than Opus 4.8, for example, on the API.
That's just, they haven't announced exactly what the pricing is, but that's clearly been, the little birdie told someone that it's going to be competitively priced, which is that's what that means. The second thing is something that you mentioned, which is the appearance of Cloud artifacts in Cloud code. So, that means that even while, is this required at the desktop or, this is just announced and I haven't even turned on that machine over there yet. So, is this in terminal also that you get an artifact?

Yes, it's a CLI. It can be part of CLI, which is the terminal, right? Command line interface. So, they announced artifacts and if you watched the show last week, and I'll try to find the episode and pop it into our community post show chat.

Anne and I talked about creating interfaces, HTML interfaces for data or something that we wanted to complete or create. And those ideas were based on Ali Miller's video. That was based on Tharik, who is a dev at Anthropics, the unreasonable effectiveness of HTML or something like that. And basically, what he was saying in that was he no longer updates things in Markdown or uses Markdown as his communication vehicle. He creates webpages because people read the webpages and understand what he is trying to communicate to them. And so I find this really interesting. Anthropic has not referenced that essay and Tharik didn't really reference that essay either, but it does seem, I think, to me that after that, we now have this.

If you're in terminal, you can generate an HTML file and show that. But this is different. This is an artifact, meaning it displays in the same UI as the CLI.

Right.

So does that mean that that's happening in HTML in a little extension of the terminal window? And do they hack terminal to do that? I don't understand it.

I am not sure either. I do know that when HTML is generated for me from the terminal, from Ghosty, which is the terminal that I use, it forces open the Chrome window. So I'm not having to go find a file and doing things. It's just popping open.
