Hello, my friends, welcome back to Cloud Wars Minute. Now, when heavy weather rolls in, it's good to have friends around, it's good to have partnerships. And I don't think the AI revolution is so much heavy weather, but that depends on how well prepared businesses are to take advantage of, how aggressively, how thoughtfully they're moving into this AI revolution. So what Google Cloud and Palantir now have done is form a powerful partnership around data, AI and industries to help businesses accelerate and optimize their moves into AI around these three key areas. Now, it's interesting that Google Cloud and Palantir of the Cloud Wars, all the hard charging companies on the Cloud Wars top 10, these are the two fastest growing companies. In Q1, Google Cloud grew 63 percent, Palantir 70 percent.
Sorry, Palantir's commercial business grew 133 percent in the first quarter. So they've got enormous momentum. Google Cloud's growth rate in Q1 of 63 percent, that was up from Q4's 48 percent. So two very, very hot companies, lots of customers, lots of interests, doing a lot of things right these days. And this partnership now, as I said, comes down to data, AI, and industries. So what's happening here is the Palantir's Foundry platform for enterprise data management is now available on Google Cloud infrastructure and it's now available on the Google Cloud Marketplace.
Google Cloud and Palantir have built connectors between Foundry and Google Cloud's BigQuery. So this allows data from those platforms and others to be pulled together for businesses to analyze. So given a more scope to more data, be able to act on it, make the best decisions for the best possible outcomes. Now, I thought this was one of the most interesting elements of this expanded partnership as well. So not just the technical integrations which have to happen, but also this desire for these two companies to say, we're going to jointly develop industry specific solutions around data and AI for vertical markets. The first two they picked are retail and financial services. And I've got a full detailed article coming up later this morning on cloudwars.com that will offer some more detail about this and some links. It shows what they're doing in areas from grocery stores to banks and more. And in a video that was done by Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian and Palantir COO and CTO Shyam Sankar, they talked about some of these. And Sankar said, you know, one of the things you want to do is allow these optimal decisions to happen from factory floors in Detroit to grocery store shelves in Sydney. So a very wide-ranging ambition here these companies have. I think they are, you know, this is a dream partnership, I think. And it's also probably an example of how, with the enormity of the prospects of what can happen here in the AI revolution, I think we're going to see more of the Cloud Wars top 10 companies form these sorts of wide-ranging partnerships because the opportunities are so big for customers. The challenges are also big. And the scale of change is so enormous now. It's probably something where combinations of what two different companies can do is going to be essential here. So I talked more about this. What I like so much about this partnership is both Google Cloud and Palantir could have gone along and said, hey, we could do this, but let me see how much of this business I can get on my own.
What they're doing together are things that neither company could do individually. And I think customers here are going to really benefit from that. And I think again, for customers, they're facing changes in the markets they serve, how they move into AI, what technologies they pick. So there's a big emphasis, both of these companies keeping things open and fully accessible for whichever specific routes the customers want to take, how they want to pursue their data. But again, we're seeing these inextricably bound connections here through this partnership of data, which is the fuel for AI, which is the key that companies are going to need to be able to do to transform into what they need to be in the future, these AI-powered enterprises versus what they are today.
As I mentioned, lots of details coming up in this article later on Cloud Wars. Excuse me now, I got to run, got to pop in here for a little swim in the mild waters here. Thanks for being with us here at Cloud Wars Minute, and I hope you have a fantastic day.
