The good, the bad and the ugly and the comeback at DNVR Broncos, seventh day of training camp practice. Before I tell you all of what happened today, make sure to hit us with a thumbs up and subscribe to this channel. We are out at every single Broncos practice game home and away. So let's get into what happened today and let's start with the good.
Nik Bonitto practiced today. On Thursday, Bonitto practiced in the walkthrough portion of practice. But that was it. Today, on Friday, he participated in individual drills, which was a big step forward. And Bonitto even put pressure on all of his lower body during the drills, which is a very encouraging sign since that is what he injured when he went out of practice earlier in the week. And according to a source, he could be a full participant in practice as early as tomorrow for the Broncos scrimmage. But if not, he will be back early next week. I expect that to be the case, that he's back early next week. No need to rush this right now.
Other good news, Courtland Sutton was a full participant in practice after missing three days off. Mostly Sutton was back at practice on Friday, participating in every single aspect of it, including a big catch at the end of practice in team period. Make sure to stay tuned for that. Then those details later in the video. And while Jalen Waddle did not practice, he was seen jogging without a limp on Friday. This is a positive step from Thursday, where he was walking with a noticeable limp. He is expected to be back at practice next week. Let's move on to the bad. The Broncos suffered a number of injuries during Friday's practice. Marvin Mims pulled up while running a go route down the left sideline, just as the ball was about to hit his hands from Bo Nix. He pulled up and immediately grabbed his lower body. Mims walked off the field with the trainer and did not return. This is a scary one because we know Marvin is all about the speed and one of the speediest guys in the NFL. So we'll keep our eyes on him. At the same time that Marvin Mims walked off the field with the trainer, Nate Adkins also walked off the field with the trainer. So we'll keep our eyes on Nate Adkins as well. And then one more in the bad after suffering an injury on Monday, Luke Wattenberg still has not returned to practice. He was on the practice field but not practicing. And the ugly, the worst part of practice was seeing Matt Henningsen leave on a cart. The defensive lineman was distraught as he left on the cart. And not only an injury suffered today but tomorrow is the one year anniversary of him tearing his Achilles in a joint practice against the 49ers last year. So I really hope Matt Henningsen is okay. But it did not look good, especially with his injury history. So we'll be giving him our best. Now let's get to the fun part of practice. And before we do, before I tell you about Bo's big comeback, make sure to like and subscribe to this channel and this video. Let's dive in to the comeback of practice. Practice ended with a situational period that Bo Nix thrives in. Bo and the offense were down 24 to 20, with a minute 21 left in the fourth quarter and the ball on their own 39-yard line. Bo and the offense needed a touchdown. Following a perfect pass breakup from Marley Mazan, Courtland Sutton, Nix was money. Nix connected with Pat Bryan and Evan Engram on short gains before a great pass to little Jordan Humphrey to get the team to the defense's 35-yard line. With 32 seconds left, Nix hit Sutton for a 27-yard game to get the offense to the 8-yard line. Welcome back, Courtland Sutton. The very next play, Bo Nix connected to a wide open Evan Engram and the left corner of the end zone for a game-winning touchdown. Nix completed another fourth quarter comeback to win practice. That wasn't the only winning that the Broncos offense was doing in practice. The run game was the best it's looked since the Broncos put pads on at the start of this week. Denver's offensive line was opening up more lanes than they have in the past, and the running backs were hitting the holes and exploding out of them.
