Welcome on in to The Auburn Express Power by The War Rapport. I'm your host, Mike G. Turn us on, turn us up. We'll turn it out. I'm here with my good friend, Ciara Clark from SEC Unfiltered to talk a little Auburn football. Guys, please welcome Ciara in the comments. She will be joining us every single week this football season to talk Auburn Tigers. On today's show, we're going to talk about where Auburn is at right now in the SEC. Ciara has incredible insights into where every school in the SEC is at. She'll tell us where Auburn falls in that hierarchy. Well, everybody to know that you came down and you watched practice. You got to see an Alex Golesh practice. I will tell you, I watched a Hugh Freeze practice. And it's very different. It was kind of haphazard. Guys were all over the place.
It didn't look great. It just so happened when you came down, we during the open period, we saw the first team period. They let us see. And Byron Brown throws a touchdown, Jeremiah Coger, while we're standing on the sidelines. An amazing catch for you. But as someone who's been around practices all over the SEC this fall, talk to me about the process that you saw from Alex Golesh and why that might actually yield wins in the fall.

Tempo, tempo, tempo. So when Golesh was at USF and when he spent time at Tennessee, his teams were like number one in the country when it came to plays per minute. And we saw that, how aggressive these teams are, how much they're really getting after it. And that's what Auburn is looking for. They don't want to have those mistakes and take too much.
You don't want to give the other team the ball too much, but it's tempo, tempo, tempo. And I really like what I see with Brown, comfortable arm. He has that chemistry with his teammates as well because he's been around them. He's got seven wide receivers coming from USF to Auburn. And some people might think, oh, well, it's just going to be an American Athletic Conference team. And to be honest, that's what I thought too. But I actually spoke with Alex Golesh several months ago at the Borel's Award in Arkansas. And he was like, I believe they can compete in the SEC because they've beaten SEC teams before.

Yeah. You know, that tempo that you talked about, it's so funny. Again, they keep that tempo up between drills. You can see it. It's tempo in everything they do. So tempo to this field, tempo to that field, tempo to stretching. It's tempo, tempo, tempo, which requires some level of conditioning. Now, Alex Golesh told us he was unhappy with Bryson Washington's conditioning this off season. We had a recent press conference. It seems like Bryson's made up the ground that he needed to make up to get first team reps back.
And they really want him to be a key part of what they do offensively. But Auburn is going to have to run the ball. And again, based on what you saw.
