MTGGoldfish Podcast Hello, everyone, and welcome to episode 608 of MTGGoldfish Podcast. I'm Seth, probably better known as Seth Frataleff, and we have the full crew here this week. Kicking things off with the owner of MTGGoldfish, Richard. How are you this fine Monday, Richard?
Richard (0:23)
Send help. Send money, Seth.
I'm too ashamed to show my face.
Seth Frataleff (0:30)
I would send you money, Richard, but I lost all mine on Arena Direct to you. We're in the same boat.
Richard (0:34)
I got destroyed by Arena Direct this weekend, Seth.
Crim (0:37)
It's going to be a hungry Mr. Bear, yeah.
Richard (0:40)
You know what? The next day, the post-conference, you can't show your face because you just got brutalized. That was me. Arena took my lunch money.
You got two black eyes underneath there. Please! I don't even have eye sockets anymore. They're just broken.
Seth Frataleff (0:59)
We'll get into this as we go along, but man, I do not understand. After this weekend, I do not understand the appeal of Arena Direct, or SEALD for that matter. I just, the whole thing, oh my god, it was so bad. But we'll talk about that in a minute. We got another co-host who didn't lose all his money on Arena Direct this weekend, Crim. You were wise enough to lose some money on Paper Magic, so well done.
Crim (1:19)
Yeah, I guess that's just easier, right? Like if I wanted to throw my money into the sun, I'd get to hold some cards in his place instead, and that's much better. So yeah, I'm doing great otherwise. I mean, okay, well, I'm a little under the weather, but you know.
Seth Frataleff (1:32)
Anyway, today we have a lot to talk about. We're going to talk a little bit about our Arena Direct experience and why Richard's wearing his sunglasses over there. We got some other limited news, and then we got a lot of Wizards news. Some Secret Lair Zeta set news. Wizards readdressed that. Magic Arena integrating with Paper Magic. We also just found out Booster Packs are changing, starting next year with Nauticus.
We got so much to go over, so that's the overview for today. But before we get into that, we got some sponsors today. Today's show is brought to you by Card Conduit, the easiest way to sell your Magic cards. If you ever get tired of the hassles of buy listing, you can skip them with Card Conduit. You can use our curated service, where you're sending as many cards as you want with a buy list value of a dollar or more and pay just a 5% service fee. So thank you to our sponsors for supporting this show, and let's talk some Magic. And let's start with our weekend, Richard.
We'll get to the big news in a minute. I got to ask you, Arena Direct. I've never really done Arena Direct before. This is my first attempt at Arena Direct. You all tempted me into it because Richard last run was flaunting his big pile of comic collector booster box.
You had so many collector boosties, Richard. I said, a lot of this gotta be easy. I'll go in some collector boosters. Oh my God, it is not as easy as you think. I feel like, is Seal just like, is this a super high variance format? Like, I keep coming away from thinking, I can't be this bad at this. And like, but is this like an abnormally, do you think, high variance format? Or do I just really suck at Reality Fractured Seal, Richard? Like, what is your take on? Because you also did not win any boxes yet, right? We're both our offers so far and down like a few hundred dollars each.
