God Cares Who’s Teaching In His Church | Revelation 2:18-29 | 9-13-26 | Sunday PM

All right, let's grab our Bibles, the Book Of Revelation tonight. Book Of Revelation, chapter number two. We're continuing in our series, The Revelation Of Jesus Christ.

And Jesus Christ is giving the Revelation in several weeks. We're going to get to Revelation, chapter four, onward, where we're going to begin considering the future events. That's where everybody gets really excited when it comes to the Book Of Revelation. And we will do our best to keep it simple, and most importantly, to keep it biblical. We do need to have a proper understanding of the end times. But Jesus has addressed the coming Revelation to his churches. He addressed it to the seven churches that are there in Asia, and therefore, he's addressed it also to those who have continued to be his true churches down through time.

The seven churches that were in Asia, that simply, there were churches within a certain area, but these were also churches that were facing different issues, facing different struggles. And we can learn from the warnings and the encouragements that Jesus gave to each one of these churches. Each one of these churches, there's warnings, there's admonitions, that even here, 2,000 years later, we need at Community Baptist Church. We may not be a port city, we may not be, et cetera, a great church or a church that's been around for 50, 60 years, but what we are is a church of Jesus Christ, and we need, if we're gonna be ready for Christ's return. And if they were to be prepared for Christ's return some 2,000 years ago, how much closer are we to Christ's return now? And so we do need to heed the warnings that are here. And so let's pick it up. Verse number 18

Jesus is going to address the church at Thyatira. Okay, so I know many of us know exactly where that is, and okay, we're gonna go through a little bit of that, but most importantly, we wanna hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. All right, verse number 18 Unto the angel, the messenger, maybe the most likely the pastor there of the church in Thyatira, write, These things sayeth the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet like unto fine brass. I know thy works and charity and service and faith, and thy patience and thy works, and the last to be more than the first. Notwithstanding, I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants, to commit fornication and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication, and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their needs.

And I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am he, which searcheth the reins and the hearts, and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. But unto you I say, and unto the rest of Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan as they speak, I will put upon you none other burden, but that which ye have already hold fast till I come. And he that overcometh and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations, and he shall rule with them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers, even as I received of my father, and I will give him the morning star. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit sayeth unto the churches. So, Jesus is speaking to his church, and there's some good things going on in Thyatira, but there's some really, really bad things. Even though it's a church of Jesus Christ, they're a true church. They have allowed some things to take place. They say, you've suffered Jezebel to teach, okay? Not, we'll explain some of that, but here's our title tonight. God cares who's teaching in his church.

Though Jezebel died thousands of years ago, her spirit is still very much alive, and still very much wants to teach within Jesus' church, because the devil is interested in causing great confusion. And so let's, God cares and so therefore we need to care, all right? And so let's ask the Lord's help, and let's pray for the Lord's help. And so let's ask the Lord's help, and let's pray and get into the message. Dear Heavenly Father, I come before you, Lord. I do pray that you would give clarity and simplicity, Lord, in just explaining your word. I pray, Lord, that you would help us not to just grasp the principles, but Lord, to understand, Lord, the severity, understand the seriousness of what takes place in your churches and how you view that. I pray that you would guide and direct the preaching tonight. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
