Hello there and welcome to another episode of WFAN Daily. And it is a Sunday night. We're recapping what happened this weekend. And there was a lot to get to.
First of all, let's get to the New York Giants because they were the success this weekend, that's for sure. They survived versus the Titans between Brian Dable and Robert Saller returning to MetLife, both in the Titans jersey, both had a head coach or offensive coordinator. It was a big deal for the Giants to win this game, but it was a slop fest. Like there's no two ways about it. We could sit there and talk about the trenches. We could sit there and talk about whatever you want. It was a very tough game on the field, especially the first half. Like the field was messy. It was what it was.
You're not gonna get a great game with that weather. But that being said though, you know, James Winston did not put on a show. He did not go out there. He controlled the game, I guess, but the passing game was non-existent. It was on both sides. It was on both sides. So it was not, again, this is where the weather could come along with, but there was really no passing game for the New York Giants. Isaiah Lightley basically thrown away this game. Malik Neighbors was very underutilized. Odell Beckham Jr. still without a real target thrown in his way.
So it was just a very lackluster offensive game. But at the end of the day, a win is a win. And Jevon Holland, you have to tip your cap to him because this is now another game, another spot. The Rams game was a blowout, okay, fine. But he's now had, I think, three interceptions along with a force fumble and a fumble recovery. He has been locked in defensively.
And it really does feel like, and he keeps on saying it, the ball just kind of finds him. And that's fine. It takes, in a big moment, it takes a big person to make a big play. And he did that and came down to the fourth quarter. Cam Ward had an opportunity. And let's be honest with you, the defense was falling apart a little bit towards the end of this game. Obviously, Brian Burns not being there, which is, we don't know what the exact injury yet, but it could be a big one. Unfortunately, we'll find that out. And once we do, we'll kind of see how the rest of the season goes defensively because they might have to rely on a lot more.
A lot of their defensemen like Kavon Dibbido and Abdul Carter, Brian Burns is one of the main pieces. He is the heart and soul of that defense. And the fact that he got back on the field and played today was crazy, right? He didn't practice all week. I know it was a short week, but still he didn't practice all week. It looked like he wasn't gonna play at all. And then he goes out there, he's active, plays really well. And then obviously goes down in the third or fourth quarter, whatever it was.
It's upsetting. But that being said though, Jevon Holland stepped up in a big spot to save the day. And a win is a win. And a two and one record is way better than a three and oh record. Sorry, a one and two record, excuse me.
I wish it was three and oh. But that being said though, like, you know, now you go in against the Arizona Cardinals team next week at home again, another winnable game. You keep on piling wins, no one's going to in the NFL, no one is going to crush you, crucify you for wins, especially early in the season. That there's no doubt about it, like it doesn't make a difference how bad your team is. If you're winning games, the Jets won the first game of the season. Tip your cap. It's important.
