Jaxson Dart, if you're listening out there, that sucks.
Chris McMonigle (0:05)
Get healthy and come back with a vengeance next year.
Craig Carton (0:07)
Well, I mean, if he is, he might even be a quarterback next year. He'll be on the roster next year.
Chris McMonigle (0:12)
I'm on the Dart train. He's the guy.
Craig Carton (0:14)
Because remember, you have another full season before you got to make that decision on, are you picking up the 50-year option? As of right now, the answer would be no, obviously. But a lot could happen between now and having to make that decision.
Chris McMonigle (0:25)
I saw a stat yesterday. Matthew Stafford played 14 games in his first two full seasons, came back in the third season, threw for 5,000 yards.
Craig Carton (0:32)
Okay. Don't do that to yourself. Don't do that to yourself, because if you want to do that, I'll give you 30 quarterbacks who didn't get through their second season and are working at Walmart now.
Chris McMonigle (0:40)
You know how many times Edison didn't invent the light bulb? Yeah. It only took one time to get it right.
Craig Carton (0:44)
Okay.
Chris McMonigle (0:45)
That's it.
Craig Carton (0:45)
And I appreciate you looking for a silver lining in this.
Chris McMonigle (0:48)
It's not a silver lining.
Craig Carton (0:49)
You're comparing them to first bout Hall of Famer now, that's what we're doing.
Chris McMonigle (0:52)
And Edison.
Craig Carton (0:53)
And Edison, one of the great inventors of all time. There's no light without Edison.
Chris McMonigle (0:58)
Dart's both Stafford and Edison. There you go.
Craig Carton (1:01)
All right, great.
Chris McMonigle (1:02)
It's not an ACL. I feel confident that he will be in.
Craig Carton (1:04)
That doesn't make it any better.
Chris McMonigle (1:05)
It does.
Craig Carton (1:06)
He's out for the year. How does it make it better?
Chris McMonigle (1:08)
Because I think it makes... Recovery, you think? I think the recovery is easier without the ACL.
Craig Carton (1:11)
It seems like the level of medical technology these days, as we've seen from other guys, namely Patrick Mahomes.
Chris McMonigle (1:19)
I think it's easier to trust in me. I just think it's an easier process and I expect him back. And I expect him to be really good. I believe in Jaxson Dart. I think he's the quarterback of the future. And if I ever do get on the tank train, which maybe I won't, I have been a tanker in the past, so I'm certainly not against that thought process.
Typically, it's when you don't have a quarterback, but even if...
Craig Carton (1:38)
Right, you're usually searching for a quarterback.
Chris McMonigle (1:40)
Usually searching for one.
Craig Carton (1:40)
But there's gotta be a part of you that's not sure if you have your franchise quarterback now. Is that fair?
Chris McMonigle (1:44)
No, there's a part of me.
Craig Carton (1:45)
At least more than there was two days ago.
Chris McMonigle (1:47)
Of course.
Craig Carton (1:48)
Two days ago, we thought you had a ten-year Rockstar franchise quarterback.
Chris McMonigle (1:52)
Certainly did.
Craig Carton (1:52)
Now you're at least gonna have to consider the thought of, is that guy my future quarterback? And in the best quarterback draft since 1983, am I drafting a quarterback?
Chris McMonigle (2:04)
But I feel I don't want to go through that process again when I feel I do have the quarterback.
Craig Carton (2:09)
I don't think I missed it. The Giants, as of this moment, 221, they've not signed another quarterback yet, correct? Am I right on that?
Chris McMonigle (2:17)
I haven't seen that, no.
Craig Carton (2:18)
Because I know when I showed up here today at 1 o'clock, at that point, they had not signed a quarterback.
Chris McMonigle (2:23)
Look, it's Jameis Winston. That's it, it's Jameis Winston. But you need another quarterback on the roster. I know, but it doesn't matter.
Craig Carton (2:27)
They don't have a backup.
Chris McMonigle (2:28)
I get it. But we're talking about who they're going to go get to be the backup.
If Jameis Winston goes down, I mean, like, who cares, like, honestly. Then the Taggathons on. Then it doesn't even matter. Like Donkey Kong. But like, and part of this, like, you know, you don't want to lose, right? I get it because, oh, you got to see this one perform. You got to, you got to see this one develop. And sure, defensively, that makes sense. But like, we saw what the Rams did Monday night. The minute Jaxson Dart was out of that game, they didn't even care to think about the pass.
