Two o'clock straight up!

It's The Carton Show with Big Mac on a gorgeous Friday afternoon in New York City. Phone number to join as always, 888-808-1019. Got a great show for you today, as we'll spend a good portion of the day getting back into a little something we call NFL Football Giants underdogs yet again trying to go to 4-1. New York Jets trying to salvage their season against the Sean Watson and the Cleveland Browns. But some interesting tidbits from New York Yankee land, which we'll get to out of the jump here today. But first, good afternoon, Big Mac, how are you today?

Chris McMonigle (0:46)

I'm doing much better, Craig, thank you. Glad to hear that. Yeah, I don't know if it was the ice cream or the dwarf whore or whatever it was, but I'm feeling much better.

Craig Carton (0:54)

Some people value the dwarf whore more than they value the ice cream.

Chris McMonigle (0:58)

I'm feeling much better. I'm feeling grateful.

Craig Carton (1:00)

And you're wearing the fishnockclothingco.com grateful shirt.

Chris McMonigle (1:04)

Yeah, I'm grateful. I know you want to get to the Yankees, but I'm grateful that the Dallas Cowboys play in the NFC East right now. I'm grateful that the Giants looking to be 4-1 this weekend and trying to put distance between them and the rest of the NFC East in the division.

Craig Carton (1:19)

Let me start off with the football. After last night's debacle for the Dallas Cowboys losing as 8.5-point favorites at home, by the way, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Real quick quiz, everybody. Who was the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Bucs last night? Three, two, one, Jalen Williams.

Chris McMonigle (1:37)

Who? Daniels.

Craig Carton (1:39)

Who?

Jalen Daniels? Jalen Williams? Jalen Johnson? Jalen somebody. And his mom was there enjoying it and it was awesome. And the Dallas Cowboys, who made the mistake that the New York Jets made earlier this year, going for two when they didn't have to.

Then coming down to maybe tie the game. And I think it was Ferguson drops the pass, hits him in the hands, Tampa intercepts it. And it's a wrap. And the Dallas Cowboys now, after last night's loss, open up the door for the New York Giants to take what would be a somewhat commanding two-game lead in the division when you consider they play a divisional opponent against Washington. The Eagles are playing the Jaguars and the Eagles now have no Cam Juergens, no Lane Johnson, no Saquon Barkley, no Devontae Smith maybe as well on Sunday. And all of a sudden, the little engine that could, the New York football Giants are sitting here with a chance, if they beat Washington, to go to 4-1 and open up a nice little lead here in the NFC East. But here's my question for you.

Chris McMonigle (2:44)

Okay.

Craig Carton (2:45)

And to Giants fans out there, do you think they will? Are you now bordering on not outrageous confidence, because you are underdogged in this game.

Chris McMonigle (2:56)

Yes.

Craig Carton (2:56)

Do you have the confidence that this giant team will find for the third consecutive week a way to win what should be a relatively close game? Yeah.

Chris McMonigle (3:07)

I mean, listen, I don't know how you don't. Even with the quarterback situation, and again, this is coming from the guy who called the season dead. And while calling the season dead, I still thought they could win these three games. These were winnable football games. The schedule changes from this point. What I didn't expect was to feel like I quite possibly could be the best team in the East.

And that's still premature. Probably not. But probably not. But certainly premature. The Eagles are still good. But it just feels like a lot's going wrong there. And clearly what we saw last night in the defense from Dallas and everything in between and the play calling. But like, yeah, I think I trust this coach to win and at least be competitive in winnable games, even on the road. I'm surprised it's a three and a half point spread. I'll be totally honest with you. They're three and one.

Craig Carton (3:50)

It's only because Jayden Daniels is bad.

Chris McMonigle (3:52)

I know, but still, I'm just saying, look, as long as Jamis Winston doesn't make a ton of critical mistakes, I trust this coach, this game plan, and this team to figure out a way to keep a game close, especially in weather. Like, if you're going to tell me that weather is going to be a major factor and it's going to be a rainy type hurricane, possibly atmosphere, in Washington or Maryland or wherever they play the stupid game, like, I trust him to figure this out.
