What up, guys? This is your homie, Lisa Bilyeu, and welcome to another episode of Women of Impact. Now, as always, we're just going to get real with each other, right? So I'm going to ask you a question. Have you ever wondered why sticking to a new habit actually feels like freaking pushing a bulldozer uphill on one leg with one hand? And why some people manage to crush their goals and others freaking struggle? I don't know about you, but I've actually seen that. I see someone else look actually flawless in achieving their goals. And yet for me, it feels like I'm the person pushing the bulldozer uphill. Well, my homie, grab your snacks and sell them because today's episode is going to actually shine a light on all of that mystery. So I'm actually going to share a little story with you guys. Back in the day when we were building Quest, I was so freaking boss to the walls, insecure and trying to just keep up with the growth of the company that I decided, well, if I just sleep a little less and I'll actually get more done.
Does that ring a bell? Well, freaking spoiler alert, it was an epic fail. My mood completely tanked, my productivity completely nosedived, and all I wanted to do was actually just curl up with some comfort food. Now, of course, guys, when I say comfort food, I really mean just stuffing my face full of sugar to try and make myself feel better. But then I discovered the incredible wisdom of my guest today, the fabulous, incredible Gretchen Rubin. Now, Gretchen's insights on how to sleep, diet and exercise are actually non-negotiables for our well-being. It really actually hit home, guys. Sometimes we know something, actually, sometimes it doesn't really hit until someone else is saying it to you. Now, Gretchen is the queen of happiness hacks and habit-forming strategies, and so she's here to introduce us to her framework called the Four Tendencies.
Now, trust me, guys, it's a total freaking game-changer, whether you're an obliger, a questioner, or an upholder. If you want to know the last one, well, you're just going to have to listen to the episode. If you want to find out which one you are and why it's holding you back, then I'm telling you today's chat is the one you've got to listen to, because she's given us so many juicy tidbits on how to understand your natural tendencies and how you can start to help use that to build your habits that actually finally stick, how you can use your natural tendencies to set goals that actually resonate with you, and ultimately find your groove, just like Stella. Now, we're diving into the impact of sleep, diet, exercise, and crucially, how relationships and even our sensory experiences play a huge, enormous role in our happiness. So wherever you are, wherever you're listening to this episode, I'm telling you, if you're in your car, you may want to pull over. If you're at home, you may want to grab a blanket because we are uncovering how to understand ourselves finally, on a freaking way deeper level, so that we can actually hit those milestones, but savour the beauty of the journey that takes us there. So without further ado, my homie, I'm Lisa Bilyeu. Welcome to Women of Impact with the incredible Gretchen Rubin.
People say they'll be happy when. They'll be happy when they have enough money, when they have enough energy, when they have enough time. And so I'd love to really start there on, let's just address the excuse that people use in the most heartfelt way possible. And how do we shake somebody awake right now that may be waiting for happiness?
