We are live from Atlanta, Georgia, the beautiful Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of Atlanta United, the Atlanta Falcons, and in 2028, Atlanta City FC. Very much looking forward to that, but we are here for a great reason as well. From Fayetteville, Georgia, very specific, just outside of Atlanta here, from the USWNT's national team hotel, campus just a few minutes away from here.
Jeff Kazouf, El Jefe, the new nickname here for him. Two-time World Cup champion, Ali Krieger. I'm Christina Alexander. We have a great show for you today. We will obviously talk to the Lindsey Heaps, Trinity Rodman, and of course, Alyssa Thompson. And we're gonna have some fun with them, a little game show. I'll put my game show host hat here on. Our producer, Beto, of course, came up with a great game. So you cannot miss it. Looking forward to obviously these two big games coming up for the US Women's National Team. Jeff, you've been at the trainings as well. New facilities. So what have you most been impressed with the new facilities for the National Team? Yeah, shiny, fancy.
Jeff Kassouf (1:47)
They got the trophies up in the hallway. Not the World Cup trophies, but a lot of the other ones. It's big, it's expansive. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere to a degree, feels like. But I mean, you walk in, you've got everything you could want. You got the cafeteria, everything you probably would have loved as a player. And then the fields. I mean, you've got mezzanine balcony to look down at the senior field.
There's a there's like a jumbotron where they've got tactics up. So they go to a team meeting. They can go out there, have it right there to refer to it. Yeah, I mean, it's cool. You would have loved it. Any of us as a player, I think it's beautiful. And the weather's been amazing, too.
Christina Alexander (2:22)
Yeah, it really has been beautiful here in Georgia. Like Jeff said, you would have loved it, but you also love to see it for them, Ali.
Ali Krieger (2:28)
Yeah, for sure. And so what we talk about, this is supposed to be the way that things are supposed to happen and evolve and progress. And it's so great to see that, you know, they have a facility where everything is in one place, right? You have your, you know, weight training there, you have your pitch, you have your recovery, and you just have access to all the nice things that can help them be their best. And we worked extremely hard for this to progress in the way that it has. And so I am so happy to see the development in this way. And the girls are very lucky to enjoy that now and to work hard there as well and to bring more championships home.
Christina Alexander (3:08)
Yeah, to truly have the luxury to focus on the task at hand, which for this window is against Spain. But we've seen this team constantly challenging themselves, looking forward to obviously summer of 2027 in Brazil. They've been in Brazil, had those games against one of the top national teams, played Japan before that, and now Spain. Jeff, very intentional here in how Emma Hayes is picking these games, correct?
Jeff Kassouf (3:31)
Three of the top seven teams in the world right now, of those ones that you mentioned. And I mean, she said we don't want to take the easy way. And she also said this week in talking to her that she doesn't want the first time these players to experience these teams, these opponents, to be in the World Cup. And that was part of the Brazil trip to be not only that team, but the environment of that hostile ground that the US almost never has to face as the opponent.
But also to be playing Spain twice before a World Cup to not get there and potentially quarterfinals, semi-finals, if things go well for each. So they'll get to see what works and what doesn't. I think there's definitely going to be lessons to be learned in these two games for the US.
