It's The Carton Show with Big Mac! Phone number to join is always 888-808-109 on a gorgeous Wednesday afternoon. Did somebody say pigskin? You bet your ass they did. Thank you to my friends at Michael Ross Commons, both the number one bar in all of New Jersey for bringing a little football grub today.
We got the Wings, we got the Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese, we got the Shepherd's Pie, we got ourselves some stuff that I like to call football! Good afternoon, Big Mac, how are you today, kid?
Chris McMonigle (0:38)
I'm doing great, you're right. We had Wings, football tonight. I'm wearing my full shirt. I'm feeling like it's football season.
Chris McMonigle (0:44)
Look at you! That's right!
Craig Carton (0:45)
90 degrees outside, so football's in the air! Yes, we'll get to Aaron Judge as well, but I want to tell you something right now. Please do. Giants Cowboys, third most expensive ticket week one.
So that means a lot of Cowboy fans are going to be at Giants or Medlife Stadium, because those are the people buying the ticket at the higher cost. So a split crowd at Medlife, but the Giants are back!
Chris McMonigle (1:11)
I think that's premature to say.
Craig Carton (1:13)
No, that's exactly what it is.
Chris McMonigle (1:14)
We don't know if it's going to be a split crowd at Medlife Stadium.
Craig Carton (1:16)
Why do you think you buy Giants tickets these days and sell them to boneheaded morons from Dallas? Who are going to fly up here and hopefully the Giants can give them a beating as well.
Chris McMonigle (1:25)
Yeah, the Cowboys travel well, but I don't know about a 50-50. We'll see. I didn't say 50-50.
Craig Carton (1:30)
Good show is what I said.
Chris McMonigle (1:31)
Solid show.
Chris McMonigle (1:31)
When you said split, split means 50-50 to me. But that's okay. Whoever's in the building, I think they're going to see a damn good New York Giants football team.
Chris McMonigle (1:40)
I hope that they do.
Craig Carton (1:41)
That's what I think. I hope they get over all this nonsense of the last 48 hours in which they cut a Walter Payne Man of the Year award winner who represented this team with great dignity and respect to the community and just tossed them to the curb the way they do with some people. That being said, that's yesterday's news. But the New York Giants and the Cavaliers, the third most expensive ticket in week one, and we're back. There is football tonight, a Super Bowl rematch. We've got Seahawks. We've got Patriots. And by the way, I think the Patriots are going to be a bad team this year, a six-win type of team. But I don't even care. Because at 820 tonight, my fat ass is going to be on my couch, feet up, Grand Marnie and Coke right there next to me, edible by my side, ready to watch a real football game for the first time since the Super Bowl.
Petey Hoffman (2:35)
Do you like the rematch of the Super Bowl being the first game?
Chris McMonigle (2:37)
I happen to like it a lot.
Chris McMonigle (2:38)
See, I don't. I don't like it.
Chris McMonigle (2:41)
I love it.
Chris McMonigle (2:41)
It's the last football game I watched.
Chris McMonigle (2:43)
Yeah, that's one point of it.
Chris McMonigle (2:44)
I want to watch two different teams.
Petey Hoffman (2:45)
Full circle.
Craig Carton (2:47)
Because I do think this. I think the Super Bowl champion, I like that for a long time it was, they're just guaranteed the Thursday game, but not against necessarily...
Petey Hoffman (2:57)
It could have been a divisional opponent.
Craig Carton (2:58)
Right, and part of that is the Super Bowl opponent might not be on your schedule that year. So I do like the fact that the Super Bowl champion...
Chris McMonigle (3:06)
I have no problem with that.
Craig Carton (3:07)
You kind of raise the banner, like, what are we going to get with the Knicks?
I like it. The Super Bowl champion should open the season. I'm good with that.
Chris McMonigle (3:15)
I like it.
Craig Carton (3:16)
Which is why it's tonight, not tomorrow, because of the Australia nonsense, as well. As far as it being a Super Bowl rematch, yeah, why the heck not?
Chris McMonigle (3:24)
I don't know. We just watched it. I'd rather have two different teams. I don't need that matchup again. But I mean, I'm not necessarily diametrically opposed to it, but I'd rather see them. They have a really tough division. I know they're going to get a division game in Australia too, but like, I don't know.
