It's The Carton Show with Big Mac on a gorgeous Monday afternoon in New York City. Phone number to join as always, 888-808-1019.

What a great start, a great start, a great start to the NFL season for both the Jet Trapolitans and the New York Giants. Not a negative spin on any of it. The Giants are 1-0, the Jets are 1-0, the Yankees are 1-0. Everybody's getting the job done and Pete Alonso's in town. Too bad that Aaron Judge hates Cam Schiller. We'll get to that later on as well. But what a great start to the NFL season. One more game to go tonight, Denver, of course, against Kansas City. And then we can worry about week two tomorrow.

But woo, yes sir, first time since 2009, both the Jets and Giants get off to a 1-0 start. And of course, that's the last time the Yankees won a World Series. So maybe, or maybe the sports gods are looking down upon us. Good afternoon, Big Mac, how are you?

Chris McMonigle (1:12)

I am doing fantastic, Craig. I am doing...

Craig Carton (1:15)

As you should be.

Chris McMonigle (1:15)

I couldn't be doing better on this Monday morning. It was an incredible night last night. Yes, for both the Giants and Jets, really impressive performances.

But last night at MetLife Stadium was one of those special evenings. One of those special evenings when you've been talking about something for months and someone else you've been talking to has been countering it in your face over and over again.

Why are you so excited about John Harbaugh? What could John Harbaugh possibly do? John Harbaugh didn't do enough in Baltimore. John Harbaugh didn't win with an MVP. John Harbaugh's blown games in Baltimore, countless games. Why do you think there's gonna be such a difference? He didn't play enough in the preseason. And then they come out there and from the jump, everything that we had hoped and expected and banked on slap you in the face. In the first drive, as they're physical, they're tough, they run the ball down the throat of the Dallas Cowboys. The quarterback makes quick, smart decisions from the pocket. He's not out there scrambling.

SPEAKER_4 (2:17)

He did both.

Chris McMonigle (2:18)

From the pocket.

Pete Rosenberg (2:19)

They ran a few naked bootlegs.

SPEAKER_4 (2:21)

No, they did and they ran them.

Chris McMonigle (2:22)

They absolutely should have. But I'm sorry. I'm not going to make any grandiose claims about what this team will accomplish as far as wins or playoffs or you shouldn't. Super Bowl or anything. But we know one game in, the New York Giants are back. This is a football team.

Pete Rosenberg (2:39)

Back to what? Don't you seem being crazy. No, I'm not being crazy. They won one game. Enjoy the game. I have enjoyed the game. They're back to what?

Chris McMonigle (2:45)

They're back to being a competent football team that you can expect a good performance from week in and week out. And if you come to play the New York Giants, you best bring your best game because that's what you're going to get. A physical nature.

Craig Carton (2:57)

See, now you're going to make me be a bad guy.

Chris McMonigle (2:58)

I'm not going to make you be a bad guy.

Craig Carton (3:00)

You don't know if they're going to be week to week.

SPEAKER_4 (3:01)

You know what they did in one game.

Chris McMonigle (3:03)

I know what they're going to be week to week. I know what they're going to be serious.

Craig Carton (3:05)

They're touchdown underdogs on Monday night.

Chris McMonigle (3:07)

Good luck, Rams.

Craig Carton (3:08)

Good luck, Rams is right. We'll get to that later on this week. Don't make me be negative when there's nothing negative to be about.

The Dallas Cowboys embarrassed themselves defensively last night. Like four consecutive dump offs to Montgomery, the Singletary, excuse me. And it's like, is there anybody calling the defense?

Chris McMonigle (3:25)

At the end of the first half, they chose to leave wide receivers uncovered three consecutive plays. No doubt, the Dallas Cowboys were awful.

Craig Carton (3:31)

They stunk.

Chris McMonigle (3:32)

They were terrible.

Craig Carton (3:33)

And I thought they were going to win a Super Bowl this year. They were terrible.

Chris McMonigle (3:36)

The New York Giants, I'm just telling you, this is now a football team led by John Harbaugh. And it was obvious, and it was palpable, and it's completely changed the New York Giants franchise.

SPEAKER_6 (3:48)

I'm sorry.

Chris McMonigle (3:49)

Everything we expected, we saw, we got.

Craig Carton (3:52)

Well, other than OBJ, that's fair. And to be fair, I've been telling you guys for months, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, there's a lot of Johnny Kamelatle's now getting on the Isaiah-likely bandwagon. He's going to be the security blanket.
