It's The Carton Show with Big Mac! Phone number to join, as always, 888-808-119 on a gorgeous football Friday afternoon in New York City. Got a great show for you today as we get ready for Jets Packers. One o'clock on Sunday. Can the New York Jets start the season off 2-0?

You bet your ass they can. A little bit of Giants, say more Monday, of course, as they get ready for the big Monday night game against the Rams. We are still waiting for the news on Aaron Judge's leg. What are they hiding?

And is the video that came out late yesterday, it could be AI, it could be real, I don't know, of Pete Alonso in the Oriole Dugout after hitting one of those home runs this past week, saying, that's what you effing get, New York. We're going to hit it all with you. It's going to be a fun show today. Good afternoon, Big Mac, how are you?

Chris McMonigle (1:05)

I'm doing well, Craig. How are you doing? You seem to be flying on this one.

Craig Carton (1:08)

I'm doing great. I was with Jen Hale earlier today. She's doing the jet game for Fox. Had a nice hour long conversation with her. I was hanging out with Jimmy Norton, one of my favorite comedians earlier today. And I have come up with a rationale and a belief that the New York Jets, even though it's a must win game for the Green Bay Packers, cannot start the season off 0-2. And especially when you consider losing to the Carson Wines Vikings and then the Geno Smith Jets.

I've convinced myself that the deluge of rain that they're allegedly expecting for Sunday plays right into the Jets' hands. I think the Jets might win.

Chris McMonigle (1:52)

Yeah, I think that's a fair point. You got no Jacobs for Green Bay. Right. You should be able to run the football, the offensive line.

Craig Carton (1:59)

It's going to be a running game more than a passing game.

Chris McMonigle (2:01)

Absolutely should. And defensively, if you can stop their run, what we saw from Minnesota against Green Bay is that pass rush. Now, I know they blitz a lot, like they blitz a lot. But the Jets pass rush was pretty good against Tennessee. That offensive line for Green Bay is reeling. You can get after the quarterback if you could stop the run. So I'm with you. I think the Jets have an excellent chance to win this football game. The defense looks nothing like you would consider a playoff defense without Michael Parsons. And the offense right now without Jacobs is kind of one-dimensional, and you can get after the quarterback against them. So I think this is a really good time to get this team. I think there's a chance eventually...

Craig Carton (2:38)

Even though off the loss isn't great.

Chris McMonigle (2:40)

No, not great. Not great. But yeah, but they lost because they couldn't like... Listen, they had the lead early on and they made critical mistakes and they were helped by the referees. You all know the three straight penalties on game changing plays. But this isn't the typical... You look at the chargers and you go, that was an embarrassing loss. Whoever's next is in trouble.

There are teams that you could see that. I think Green Bay is reeling. I think Green Bay is devastated by these injuries and the suspension from Jacobs. I don't think they're a very good football team right now. I think there's a chance they become a really good football team.

Chris McMonigle (3:11)

I think their coach isn't a little bit of trouble too.

Chris McMonigle (3:12)

Yeah, I think he is too.

Craig Carton (3:14)

Because it's been a decade now with LeFleur there, and it's like, hey, you've had a pretty damn good quarterback your entire time there. You've had above average running a game as well. When do we start dominating? Because the Chicago Bears right now are the best team in that division. After the Lions, another embarrassing defensive performance last night against the Buffalo Bills or against the Bills in a second. The Green Bay Packers, this was supposed to be their time.

I'm not a Jordan Love guy, but they paid Jordan Love like he's a franchise quarterback.

Chris McMonigle (3:47)

He's a top 10 quarterback.

Craig Carton (3:48)

When do you start seeing that? I think the Jets can win this game.

Chris McMonigle (3:51)

I think the Jets can win this game too.

Craig Carton (3:52)

Could you imagine a world in which I come in here on a Monday afternoon and the New York Jets are 2-0 and tied with the Buffalo Bills for first place? Is that a world you want to live in?
