Yo, what's cracking, everybody? James Koh, Matt Harmon here with you. You're listening to Reception Perception, The Show. Oh, man. Matt Harmon. Week one is practically in the books here as we record on a Monday.
And dude, I don't know about you. I forget this every single year. But you know how like the players need to go through the preseason?
Matt Harmon (0:36)
Yeah.
James Koh (0:36)
Like, you know, the veterans, they don't get that preseason reps in.
That's what it's like being a football analyst, too. It's like, you know, I don't really get the preseason reps. And then week one is like trying to drink from a fire hose, baby. It's just, I myself am not like accustomed to like watching this many games all at once and trying to decipher what is going on.
Matt Harmon (0:57)
You know, I totally am with you. And here's a little free marketing advice to the folks at YouTube. Okay. You know, they do the Sunday ticket, obviously, which I have, you know, of course, like coming. Of course, I got got to have it.
I redid, you know, a little personal story. I spent Saturday an obnoxious and embarrassing amount of time cleaning out this office because wasn't, you know, besides what you guys can see, the little box here when you're watching on YouTube or watching my other shows, whatever wasn't looking great in the room. Okay, it wasn't great. That being said, one of my rewards for doing that was I got, I installed a third TV over here on the wall. So yeah, I've got the big TV, which goes to the four box. I got this TV up here. I got one down here and I turned this monitor around. So like I've got screens on screens on screens. You know, my wife comes up here yesterday says, how can you pay attention to all this? I'm like, I'm doing my best.
I'm doing the best I can, to your point. But you're right, we need the preseason reps. And this is my pitch to the good folks at YouTube. You got like, do an extra $100 package for a Sunday ticket during the preseason. Because I never feel like I have enough eyes on preseason games as they're all happening live. So it's kind of like, oh, I'm flipping between, you know, NFL Network's got the Jets Steelers preseason game on. And then let me pop over. You're like, I need the preseason reps.
So first drive for all these teams, I'm dialed in when they're all kind of happening at once, as opposed to I just get like local access or the NFL app, whatever, YouTube. I don't know what you got to do, but that would be a good marketing idea.
James Koh (2:44)
Yeah, man, 100 percent. But yeah, it's a little crazy, but it's a lot of fun. Obviously, this is a first world problems to the extreme, but that's OK.
Matt Harmon (2:51)
Please. Nobody should feel bad for us. No one should feel bad for us.
James Koh (2:55)
Week one, like I said, almost in the books here. And week one is so interesting, right? Because week one, there's a lot of week one liars, if you know what I'm saying here. Like the Raiders beat the Patriots last year in week number one. I mean, go figure. You know what I'm saying? So week one has a lot of liars, but there's also a lot of grains of truth in week one action here as well. I want to talk about three particular storylines that really have piqued my interest.
Matt Harmon (3:21)
Before we do, can I just throw you out some week one liars from last year just to set the table?
I saw our buddy Alfredo Brown tweeting about this, so I went and checked this out as well. This is just at the... Well, okay. Let's talk players overall first before we specifically do wide outs. He noted, Alfredo did, after week one of last year, Drake May was QB 18, Jameer Gibbs was running back 36 in fantasy, George Pickens was wide receiver 65, Tucker Craft was tight end 17
I said, let me go on the flip side of that. After week one of last year, this is an half PPR scoring, by the way. Justin Fields, QB 1, Aaron Jones and Jacory Kroski-Merritt were tied at running back 11 Keon Coleman was wide receiver 4 Calvin Austin was wide receiver 12 Marquise Brown was wide receiver 13
